Here's to hoping they all get jobs. The more short PG's on other teams the better.

    Damon Stoudamire back at Arizona

Damon Stoudamire was one of most popular players in Arizona history, an electrifying, high-scoring guard with a cool nickname.

Now Mighty Mouse is headed back to the desert.

Stoudamire was hired as an assistant coach under Sean Miller on Friday, a move that's sure to be a big hit with one of college basketball's most fervid fan bases.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Damon Stoudamire to the University of Arizona to become a part of our coaching staff," Miller said in a statement. "Damon is an immensely talented recruiter, and is also very comfortable teaching and coaching the game. More importantly, his credibility in all aspects of our game is unmatched -- he simply has 'been there and done that' at the highest level. I believe strongly that he will be invaluable in helping many of our current and future student-athletes do the same."

A 5-foot-10 guard, Stoudamire was one of the most dynamic players in Arizona history, winning 101 games from 1991-95. He helped lead the Wildcats to the 1994 Final Four and was the next season a consensus All-American, Pac-10 player of the year and a finalist for the Wooden Award.

Stoudamire is the only Arizona player to score 40 points twice in a season, is sixth on the school's career scoring list with 1,849 and is a member of the Arizona Ring of Honor inside the McKale Center.

Stoudamire was taken with the seventh overall pick of the 1995 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors and was the Rookie of the Year after averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists and 4 rebounds.

He was later traded to his hometown team, the Portland Trail Blazers, and also played for Memphis and San Antonio during 13 NBA seasons.

Stoudamire retired after the 2007-08 season and spent one year as director of player development at Rice under head coach Ben Braun. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies and the past two as an assistant under Josh Pastner at the University of Memphis.

"Damon is one of our all-time great players and is a distinguished member of our Ring of Honor in McKale Center," Miller said. "He also enjoyed an illustrious 13-year NBA career before entering the coaching profession. What made Damon such a great player is what makes him a talented coach -- his passion for the game and his ability to connect with people."

Carl Bennett passed away thursday, at age 97.

Why should you remember Carl Bennett? He was the first coach and GM in Pistons history, beginning in Fort Wayne.

His tenure as coach only lasted the first 6 games (he went 0-6 and hired Curly Armstrong to finish the season), but his time as GM was more significant.

He was GM from 1948-1954, drafted the first franchise superstar (George Yardley) in 1950, acquired the first franchise center (Larry Foust) that same year, and set the foundation for the team that de-throned the Lakers in 1954 to begin their back-to-back finals runs.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    Division Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

Every team that eliminated a squad with Derek Fisher on it has gone on to win the NBA Finals. A perfect 7-0.

    1999 Spurs

    2003 Spurs

    2004 Pistons

    2007 Spurs (Fisher with Utah)

    2008 Celtics

    2011 Mavericks

    and the 2012 Heat

What will happen with the 2013 Grizzlies?

What was CP3's relationship with Byron Scott like? If I'm the Clippers and those two got along, I'm targeting Byron.

Of course, this is the Clippers we're talking about. They'd just as likely hire Mike Dunlap.

Odds are, they'll hire whoever will get Chris Paul to resign. It really doesn't matter who coaches. Me coaching with Chris Paul >>>>>> Phil Jackson coaching without Chris Paul.

Don't really know where to put this, but I thought it was funny so I'll throw it in here. During Chad Ford's chat today he made a rather interesting comment:

    Vince (Sacramento)

Who do you see the Kings taking at #7 with the first pick in the Ranadive era?
    Chad Ford (1:54 PM)

So tough to tell. First thing Kings need is a GM in place. I don't think the Kings should just stick with what they have. They need to shake things up at the top. I think an experienced GM is probably the way to go -- with the way Indiana has rebuilt, grabbing someone like David Morway might be a fit. Then they have to decide who is staying and who is going on the roster. Only then do you really have a feel of what to do here. I have them taking Michael Carter-Williams -- a big point guard who has the potential to be great.
I see Chad is still talking up his pal David Morway

    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/93...ording-sources

    By Brian Windhorst | ESPN.com

Jeff Hornacek has agreed in principle to become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns, sources confirmed to ESPN.com.

Hornacek, who had a 14-year career as an NBA player and recently served as an assistant with the Utah Jazz, will sign a three-year deal as early as Sunday night to join the Suns, according to sources.

The 50-year-old Hornacek also had interviewed for the vacant Charlotte Bobcats head coaching job. However, the Suns began negotiating a deal Sunday with Hornacek, who has maintained a home in the Phoenix area.

A fan favorite as a Suns player, Hornacek will attempt to help Phoenix rebound from one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
The Suns are coming off a last-place finish in the Western Conference at 25-57, the fourth-worst record in the NBA and second-worst in franchise history behind a 16-66 effort in their inaugural season of 1968-69.

Interim coach Lindsey Hunter went 12-29 after taking over in January for Alvin Gentry, who was fired in his fourth season with the Suns.
The Suns dismissed general manager Lance Blanks last month. Blanks had served as general manager since August 2010.

Hornacek played the first six seasons of his NBA career in Phoenix after being picked in the second round by the Suns in the 1986 draft. He averaged a career-best 20.1 points per game in 1991-92, a season in which he made his lone All-Star appearance. It was also his final season in Phoenix as he was traded before the following season to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal that brought Charles Barkley to the Suns.

Not sure those would have been the "right fit" for BShaw anyway... I doubt he would have taken them...
