So is this going to be the playoff random thoughts thread?

In case you are interested, here are the numbers of viewers (millions)for the weekend cable games.

    Saturday
    5:30 - Warriors at Denver - 2.8
    8:00 - Bulls at Nets - 3.3
Grizzlies at LA Clippers - 3.4

    Sunday
    1:00 - Hawks at Pacers - 2.2
    7:00 - Bucks at Miami - 4.9
    9:30 - Rockets at OKC - 4.3

The two ABC games are not final numbers, so they will likely be adjusted.

    Saturday - ABC
    Celtics at Knicks - 4.7

    Sunday
    Lakers at SA - 5.6

Pacers-Hawks game fewest viewers by over half mil. Why doesn't that surprise me.

Not surprising. Some of the reason was the time slot. Early afternoon especially as we get into better weather is not a good timeslot. But yes if all the games were in equal time slots and each game was equally close - I believe the pacers vs hawks would still get the lowest ratings.

As a parent, I am familiar with

"straighten up kid, or you are going in timeout"
"straighten up kid, or you will lose TV for a week"
"straighten up kid, or you are grounded for a week"

    but
"straighten up kid, or you are going to Cleveland"

    seems a little harsh.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I chalk it up to the early time slot too, but I wonder what the local numbers were, probably not very good. Indianapolis just doesn't care much for the NBA.

At least it looks like progress is happening

@MikeWellsNBA: Game 2 was the highest-rated Pacers game on Fox Sports Indiana since Feb. 4, 2003 against the Lakers.

Did any of you know that Paul George and Chris Duhon are cousins? Chris Duhon and Jarrett Jack are also cousins. No word on whether PG and PD fan favorite Jarrett Jack are related, however.

Has FSI aired any other playoff games since 2003?

It looks like Game 2, Game 3, and Game 5 against Orlando last year and game 3 against the Bulls the previous year would have all been on FSI. I can't find any easily accessible place that the game networks are listed for any of the playoff games before that.

Last year's game #4 between the Pacers and Heat was on a Sunday afternoon and the ratings were high enough to be about equal to what the Colts receive for a typical regular season game. That was the highest ratings since 2004 for the pacers

Anyone listen to todays BS Report. Really fun and interesting stuff, and some tidbits on why Kenyon Martin signed with Knicks and no other team, and discussions about defensive player of the year.

Well, I'd assume that PG and JJ are distant cousins then....as least about a million times removed ?

not necessarily. Paul and Duhon could be cousins on their Dad's side and Duhon and Jack on their mother's side. That would leave Paul and Jack unrelated.

Cousins removed is different. IIRC, it is like great grand parents. My mom's first cousin is my first cousin one time removed. My kid would be their first cousin two times removed.

Among the options being considered by the Toronto Raptors as they weigh the futures of team president Bryan Colangelo and coach Dwane Casey is making a run at Phil Jackson, according to sources with knowledge of Toronto's thinking.

Now that heavyweight sports executive Tim Leiweke has been hired as the new president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment -- the Canadian conglomerate that owns and operates the Raptors, NHL's Maple Leafs and Toronto FC in Major League Soccer -- Toronto's chances of successfully luring Jackson north of the border appear to be much more realistic.

Sources told ESPN.com this week that the Raptors have interest in talking with Jackson about the Pat Riley-style role he craves in charge of a team's basketball operations. ESPN.com reported last week that Jackson, after nearly two seasons in retirement, is itching to return to the NBA next season, preferably in a role similar to Riley's in Miami that allows him to oversee both the basketball department and the coaching staff or perhaps as a high-level consultant such as Jerry West in Golden State.

Leiweke is a major player in the sports industry and Jackson is very familiar with his work in Los Angeles, where Leiweke helped get the Staples Center built for the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers as well as the NHL's Kings. Leiweke also has a longstanding working relationship with Lakers executive Jeanie Buss, Jackson's fiancee.

Wherever Jackson ends up this summer, I think we're definitely losing B-Shaw to that team.

    Lakers Star Steve Nash
    In Dogfight
    Over Child Support

    Exclusive
L.A. Lakers star Steve Nash thinks he has a good reason NOT to pay child support -- if he does, he thinks his ex-wife will spoil the kids with limos and other luxuries.

Nash is locked in a legal war with Alejandra Nash over their 3 kids. She currently lives in Arizona, where a judge handled their divorce and ruled she was not entitled to child support. She's appealing the ruling and we now know what they're arguing over.

Steve convinced the divorce judge -- Alejandra doesn't need child support because he made her a millionaire 5 times over in the divorce settlement. On top of that, she pulls in more than $30k a month.

For her part, Alejandra says Steve makes a million bucks more than her every month, and it's unfair he's not forced to use some of it for the benefit of their kids.

Steve is saying he's paying plenty -- 90% of medical, school and extracurricular activities, and 82% of the nanny's $2k a month salary. He says he's worried if he pays more, she's an excessive spender who will spoil and damage the kids with crazy luxuries.

But there's more going on here. As we previously reported ... Alejandra wants to move to L.A. but Steve is objecting. It's really weird, because the b-baller has said he chose to go to the Lakers rather than the Knicks so he could be closer to his kids.

There's one thing for sure ... if Alejandra moved to L.A., Steve would probably get socked with a big child support bill -- that's just the way it works in California.

    @KBergCBS
Russell Westbrook underwent knee surgery today and will miss the rest of the playoffs, Thunder announce.

    @KBergCBS
Doctors repaired, as opposed to remove, Westbrook's meniscus, which requires a longer recovery time but also is a better long-term solution.

If that is what it is, it won't be epic, it will be a mercy killing. Heat in 5 unless LeBron gets hit by a bus on the way to the arena.
