Never would have imagined him returning to Cleveland. Certainly not so quickly, too.

Mike Brown is going to be making so much money, he is still getting money from the Lakers plus his new salary, damn.

    edit: Mike Bresnahan ‏@Mike_Bresnahan 50s
If Cleveland hires Mike Brown, as per @WojYahooNBA, Lakers almost surely off the hook for $6 million they owe Brown over next 2 yrs.

It looks like he can't have two contracts?

Nope, once you get a new contract the old one becomes void. That means D'Antoni can get fired .

Mike Brown is a good coach. They wouldn't be bringing him back if Lebron wasn't still in his corner.

I heard his family influenced the decision. That being said isn't his son going to Butler?

I would suspect most contracts have a clause saying if you get hired by another NBA team the contract ends.

Shane Battier gets truck load of free Bud Light

What is the best kind of beer?

    Free beer.

And Shane Battier just got a truckload of it. Literally.

Back during the Heat’s 27-game winning streak Steve Aschburner of NBA.com wrote about the superstitions of the Heat players, because if “Bull Durham” taught us one thing it’s that you don’t mess with a streak. Shane Battier was asked about his superstitions during the streak:

“Nope,” Battier said. “Well, I try to drink the same beer – Bud Light – but that’s about it. You never know. I don’t want to chance luck and switch up brands, so I’m staying loyal to Bud Light.”

So the marketing people at Bud Light saw that and delivered 18 pallets of beer — about 1,100 cases — to his house. Which means I need to get invited to Shane Battier’s house because, even that’s not my beer of choice, it would be the best kind of beer. Free.

Yes, Elijah Brown is going to be a freshman at Butler next year.

There was probably a clause in his buyout that if he took another job in that time period the Lakers could cease payment.

I just love it when uber-rich people are given free things. One famous guy says he drinks your beer, so you send him about $20,000 worth of merchandise. Nice.

Guys, we might be looking at this Battier/Bud Light thing all wrong. Maybe the Anheuser-Busch Company is trying to coerce Shane Battier into throwing a huge party with all his newfangled free beer. Say Battier throws this party the night before a huge playoff game against the Pacers (Anheuser-Busch is in St. Louis, which is the Midwest; Pacers are in Indianapolis, Midwest again--Plains States sticking together) and all those Heat dicks come out hungover and they aren't superhuman like Jordan and can hang 40whatever points while they are severely dehydrated. Pacers win, Heat upset, Bud Light gets the last laugh?

Since the streak ended anyway, Battier should ask them to take it all back and send him the cash equivalent.

Then he can also buy real beer.

I don't think it's that. It's more like this. If Cleveland pays him $1M per yr, and his contract with LA is $3M, then Cleveland pays him $1M and LA $2M. In other words, he doesn't have to give up the larger paycheck to get a new job, but he cannot collect both checks. Now if LA owed him $1M and CLeveland $3M, then Cleveland would just pay the $3M and LA nothing. The new salary offsets the old one.

More on the bobcats, I forgot about this:

    Bulls have the rights to Charlotte's future no. 1 pick (top-10 protected in 2014, top-eight protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016);

I don't think they have anything to worry about as far as losing their 2014 pick is concerned.

That's the way it would be in a player contract covered by the CBA, but coaches aren't covered by that. I'd think it would be more like a professional services contract where the obligation to pay you stops when you start getting paid by a competitor - otherwise teams could very well have clauses that say even if we fire you as long as we keep paying you, you can't coach.

From what I read Mike brown was moving his family back to Cleveland regardless of whether he was going to be the head coach there. So it make sense that he would want to coahc the Cavs
