The Harden trade is the classic case of team who gets the best player wins the trade. Especialy true with superstars. I think this will end up being a huge deal in OKC especially if they don't win a title or make it to the finals in the next two years. I think you will see Durant or Westbrook leave and I think you'll be able to trace it back to this. That was kind of a point I tried to make in the original thread. This could have a really far reaching impact in the OKC franchise not just what happens on the court.
Houston "won" the trade, but it was never about that for OKC. It was about the CBA. They were either trading him, or letting him walk for nothing. You do have to give Presti some credit for getting more out of Harden than Orlando could get for Howard. Now if you want to argue they should have kept Harden instead of Ibaka, you won't hear any arguments out of me.

should have kept Harden instead of Perkins.

That wasn't an option. Even without Perk they would have had $60 million plus per year tied up in 4 players. Then they need to pick up a new center, and starting cailber centers do not come cheap. Replacing Perk with "random journeyman center" saves them $5 mil a year max, and still has them pressed into the luxury tax.

start Ibaka/Collison, which was their best option anyway vs. most teams. Add a couple of cheap Jason Collins types.
In the end, it's a question of keeping Harden or more flexibility, and to me that would've been Harden.

The Lakers got embarassed by Dallas on opening night.
Kevin Garnett tried to kill Ray Allen with just a glare of death
Rajon Rondo tried to kill D-Wade by grabbing him by the neck
Apparently there was a Cleveland - Washington game going on the first night too. Most have considered this to be an urban legend.
The Lakers got embarassed by Portland in Portland on Halloween.
David West beastmoded opening night in Toronto and George Hill hit the gamewinner.
Kobe Bryant told fans to shut up.
    Dallas signed Troy Murphy
James Harden was possessed by Chuck Norris after being traded to Houston
OKC **** the bed against San Antonio
Pacer fans everywhere DIED laughing when Jim O'Brien sung the praises of Troy Murphy spreading the floor for Dallas
Tony Parker made Westbrook look SILLY.
The Pacers forgot how to shoot free throws.
    Boston lost to Milwaukee.
The Bobcats were on top of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Heat got blown out by twenty point by the Knicks.
The Lakers tried to get their first win of the year.
The Lakers are STILL looking for their first win of the year.
Sam Young apparently tried to turn heel against the Pacers last night. Fortunately the Kings couldnt quite take advantage.

    I thinks thats everything.

He didn't do anything the first two games.

Also he benefits GREATLY from George Karl's up tempo system.

As good as Harden has been, Kyle Lowry has been just as good so far this season. Amazing to watch. And he's solid on D, too.

True. BUT, they offered Harden a $13mil/year extension but refused the $15mil/year he wanted. The Perkins amnesty could have saved them that extra money. Why would they even offer him that extension and not entertain the max extension/amnesty Perk option? Puzzling.

Loving what Jacque Vaughn is running offensively a ton of horns based sets mixed with triangle concepts really a thing of beauty. I think they are a ton of fun to watch Moore is almost a perfect PG for what they do. Nikola Vucevic is like the perfect big for their offense I really was high on him for us. He would of been a high post weapon very solid at making the right play Pau Gasol like in his style.

I wish OKC would run some better stuff I have hated their offense in the past now w/o Harden it's ugly. I don't think they can win a ring until Durant or someone on that team can play in the post.

kind of yes. I'm not saying that Lowry is a super star or that he'll stay as good (his true shooting is at 75% which would be the best all time if he maintained it... so, not happening).
But he's been the best point guard in the league over the first 3 games.
He didn't play 40 min + a game like Harden or shoot as much, but he's been much more efficient (which is saying a lot, considering how efficient Harden has been) and subjectively, he's played much better D.

E'Twaun Moore started in Orlando and was pretty good.

    16 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals

The Raptors went from one of the softest teams to one of the toughest. Lowry brings toughness and for me that is something I really look for in a pg.

Jonas+Lowry is a massive upgrade in toughness

Only downfall for Lowry is he clashed with his last 2 coaches. Aldeman was sick of him as was KevinMac. It cant just be the coaches fault but with that said a great coach would of been able to fix those relationships for the betterment of the team. Aldeman is a pretty good coach but not a players coach same with Mac. Im guessing Phil Jackson or Doc could of made it work.

Damn Brandon Knight keeps missing bunnies and Kobe looks better than he has in years and that is scary

To be fair, Stuckey's been battling migraines all season. May explain some of his struggles.

But to also be fair, if it's that big of a problem, maybe he shouldn't be playing.

He's the second best player on the team, and the best scorer. Benching him doesn't help, unless Stuckey requests it.

Stuckey needs to sit for the rest of this trip until his migraines are gone. His balance is completely off. He's plying at half speed and his shots are all off target. He's missed a half dozen point blank layups.

The pistons are going to continue to lose games until frank decides Drummond has sat on the bench enough. He did the same thing last year with Brandon knight.

Might take another 4-20 start. Maxiell starting at the 4 is embarrassing. He can't rebound, challenge shots or defend his position. Yes he can score but he gives up more points than he scores.

Every power forward we've seen this season has absolutely demolished him.

Stuckey was averaging about 26ppg and shooting over 50% after the all star break last season until he got hurt. He's never been ray Allen, but he simply is not this bad of a shooter. He physically isn't right.

No argument there. Other than Charlotte, there's not a team with a worse roster than the Pistons.

And as KStat noted, Stuckey's a decent player. Not an all-star, but a clear cut NBA starter. He could easily average 18 to 20 ppg.

I'd debate that. Their roster isn't this bad. It simply is not being used right. Frank is playing his best power forward at center and throwing out tweeners at the 4 for 48 minutes so we can watch what should be a big team get pummeled in the paint.

The Miami heat would have trouble winning games if they played Jason maxiell and Jonas jerebko at the 4 for the entire game. Both players cannot rebound or defend at the 4.

I could accept us being bad if we at least put out lineups that made sense. This just seems to be Lawrence frank showing everyone who's boss by nailing Drummond to the bench until he decides it's the right time to start really using him.

Drummond and Monroe have played together zero minutes this season. That's not a coincidence.
