leave it to the knicks to make someone who scored 38 points the previous night look like a solid defensive effort

You really can't blame the Wizards' announcers. From that angle, it absolutely looked like it went in. It would've fooled me had I seen it live.

Had that feeling that Knicks would get the W despite Curry's greatness cause you know... he was rather alone last night. Add to that the absence of Lee and that they got slaughtered in the offensive rebounds cause there was nobody to claim them from the Warriors plus the couple of dump plays at the end and voilà.

Still very much fun game to witness for the obvious reason.

More like Jarret Jack cost them the game by jacking up shots and turning the ball over.

A guy is on fire and he wants to "Jack up" shots up there, stupid.
The Knicks finally changed their D and started double-teaming Curry HARD, right after half-court, so Jack really had to take over PG duties and have Curry run off screens.

Jack's two instances of driving into sideline traps and killing his dribble were just mind-numbingly stupid. Oddly, he had been playing great lately.

Skip Bayless: Philadelphia 76ers' Andrew Bynum has degenerative knee condition

Yeah, Bayless is an idiot and not an NBA guy, so who knows...

Damn, that sucks for Bynum. Already have a degenerative brain condition and for it to spread to your knee. That's a real shame.

Still love that so many thought they would go blowing by the Pacers this year.

I thought everybody knew about his degenerative knees, I mean does anybody think is normal to put lubricants in those knees twice a year?

The pass was brilliant; the actual dunk itself, not so much. Still, I give him credit for a creative setup.

I guess he's been doing this for a few weeks, so this gif might not be the best one he's done, but rather just one example. I also remember seeing somewhere a baseline/through-the-legs/windmill tomahawk jam he also did recently in pregame warm-ups.

Noah had himself a decent game: 23 points, 21 rebounds, 11 blocks and 3 steals...

Interesting article on Slate about NBA teams hiring all the stat guys that includes a couple of nice words about Roy Hibbert.

If you click on the paper that is linked in the article there is some more good data as well. They conclude that Larry Sanders is the best interior defender in the NBA right now, and Hibbert isn't far behind. The big reason Hibbert is behind is because teams shoot better from the mid-range when he's still close to the basket, which reflects the Pacers strategy for him to not come out of that area very often. But as the article noted, when Hibbert is around the rim, teams don't challenge him very often and he has a better defensive FG percentage on close shots than anybody else in the league.

Mahinimi isn't in all the charts, but when he's within 5 feet of the shooter, he's 13th in defensive field goal percentage out of 52 (Hibbert is 5th). IMO, on that particular statistic it's kind of hard to separate out their individual defense from the results of the overall team defense though.

Hansbrough is within 5 feet of the shot less than every other interior defender tracked in the league. West isn't included on the charts, so no way to compare if it's a function of playing next to Hibbert/Mahinmi. But Hibbert and Mahinmi are close to the shooter about the same amount of the time.

Some notables that grade out really badly: Varajeo, Love, Monroe, Scola, Lee. Scola in particular is really bad because teams love to attack the rim when he's close to the basket (6th highest percentage of 52 players of shots taken close to the rim when he's near the basket), they score at a high percentage (teams shot the best percentage against him at the rim than anybody else measured), and when he's within 5 feet of the shooter anywhere on the floor teams have the 6th highest percentage against him of anybody measured.

    Rubio

by the way, i think in an odd way, Rubio's flashiness and good looks have a negative impact on his image. There's so much else to like, including approach to the game, defense, leadership.
