Got my tickets to Pacers vs Suns March 30th, super excited about it. My brother is going with me (he's a Celtics/KG fan) but we haven't really been to a Suns game in a long time.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

would you do this? i would've said hell yes during the preseason but he hasn't been very impressive in the d-league lately and apparently the main issue is that he's just not happy about being in the d-league.

still, he's shown some serious talent during the preseason games, he looked easily like a top 10 rookie.

I think so. Monta's a superstar in his own mind. Monta's got it all, and all that. If there's a player that defines irrational confidence, it's probably him.

I guess Houston's problem is that they have too many young guys and don't have the playing time to develop them all. But if they trade Jones for a pick, wouldn't the cycle just repeat next year? Hmm. In any case, yeah Pacers should look into it, but I dunno how attractive our pick will look to the Rockets.

In case anyone hasn't seen this, I thought it was pretty hysterical.

I'd think that the Rockets are just acquiring assets to be used to move for bigger pieces to fill in the PF spot in trades.

They could interview him with actual footage of himself and it would be funny, as long as it wasn't on ESPN being sold as actual basketball insight.

Season ticket holders typically receive a gift from the team every year that they renew their seats, and the Utah Jazz have decided to go above and beyond for the 2012-2013 season. According to Utah Jazz Nation, Jazz season ticket holders who attend who love breakfast appliances can stop by the fan relations office and pick up an exclusive waffle iron that is branded with the teamís logo.

Does it get any better than this? The only thing I can think of that might be slightly better than a waffle iron is this bobblehead that the Oakland Aís will be giving out this season, but itís close. If I was a Jazz fan Iíd be pumped.

Hall of Famer Chris Bosh came off his excellent all star game with a 2 for 10 performance against the Hawks for 6 points.

The Heat scored 40 in the 4th and won by double figures though.

Westbrook goes for 28 points on 20 shots, while Harden goes for a rediculous 46 on 19 shots.

Man. The Lakers just did a really, really nice tribute to Buss.

Emotional. They did it right, and for the first time in my life I'm glad LA was on national TV.

great read overall. although clearly it's just another set of stats that have to be used with caution. For instance, who knew Andrea Bargnani is such an interior defensive beast

    Top 5
    Proximal FG%
    1. Larry Sanders
    34.9%
    2. Andrea Bargnani
    35.2%
    3. Kendrick Perkins
    37.3%
    4. Elton Brand
    38.0%
    5. Roy Hibbert
    38.7%
Table 1: The top and bottom 5 interior defenders according to proximal FG%, which is defined as the opponentís FG% when the qualifying defender is within 5 feet of the shot attempt.

I just noticed that DJ Augustine is the highest drafted player on the Pacers.

The Pacers draft numbers, from highest to lowest:

    9
    10
    13
    17
    17
    18
    18
    26
    26
    28
    31
    36
    36
    40
    Undrafted

If the Pacers were to win a title with this group, they would be the first champion in NBA history without a top 5 pick on the roster.

What are we waiting for? Trade Granger for Robinson and Garcia and the title is ours

Yeah, Bargs stuck out like a sore thumb in that list But according to Raptor fans, Bargs always has good defensive numbers in man-to-man post defense, so who knows.

For those who didn't read the paper, Hibbert is #1 in the league in close FG% - opponents shoot only 38.2% when Hibbert is within 5 ft of the basket. And he's #5 in proximal FG% - opponents shoot only 38.7% when Hibbert is within 5 ft of the shooter.

I guess there must be considerable overlap between these 2 measures, and the difference in Hibbert's ranking must reflect his lack of mobility in chasing down big guys shooting from midrange or the perimeter.

Oh, and a few other Pacers are listed as well. Ian Mahinmi is ranked #13 in proximal FG% (opponents only shoot 43.3% when Ian's within 5 feet of them). And Tyler Hansbrough actually leads the league in the "invisible blocks" category - opponents put up a shot only 20.7% of the time when Psycho T is within 5 ft (maybe because they were afraid of getting mugged, heh). Strangely, Bargs does well in this category too, along with other guys you don't normally think of as good defenders.

I can't for the life of me think who was drafted 9 overall. PG was 10, right?

Bargnani is a solid post defender, you can easily when you watch him play. Unfortunately, he's also the worst helper/ team defender in the NBA so it kind of evens itself out.
