Amazing that the Lakers are thinking about rebuilding around Howard, watching Kobe it looks to me like he can make it to 40 years of age and still play at a good level(ala MJ) Kobe is still the future I think.

Jermaine O'Neal has told his Phoenix Suns teammates that he will miss the next three games to be with his daughter who is having open-heart surgery Wednesday, azcentral.com reported on Tuesday.

Asjia O'Neal, 13, will undergo a procedure to repair a leaky heart valve in Boston, according to the website. Jermaine O'Neal's three-game absence could become more depending on his daughter's condition.

Jermaine O'Neal is averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in his 17th season in the league and first with the Suns.

O'Neal is not sure if he will return for another season, with the website reporting that his son Jermaine Jr. actually has the final call on his father's career. O'Neal almost walked away this year after an aunt died in November.

"It was close," O'Neal said, according to azcentral.com. "I wasn't playing this year for money. I just wanted to come in, enjoy basketball and try to help these young guys. I felt selfish, like, 'What am I doing? I have the money I have, the businesses I have, the family. Why am I still running around trying to play basketball?' "
Best wishes to you and yours JO.

Watching so many laker games over the years, it's obvious Kobe is having probably his best season. He's playing smarter than ever, and has just enough athleticism to make the "tough" plays. He lacked that the last two seasons bc of his knee issues.

Idk if he could play till 40, but hell me might. Dude is a machine, the Kareem of guards--just a great player over a crazy amount of time

He'd have to keep his same scoring pace for another 3.5 seasons. There is certainly plenty of doubt he'll get there.

Not from me. I'm absolutely positive he'll break the record and build on it for several years.

Why can't the Pacers have some one like JR Smith/Jamal Crawford/Jason terry. Man I would even settle for a Nate robinson. Anything is better than the Sam Young/Gerald Green/DJ Augustin combo.

His defense, understandably, has not been as good as it was in his prime. So I'd say his best year in a while but not his best year of all time

My wife just got tickets to the Spurs v Clippers game on the 29th! Top of the plaza level at center court, probably the best seats to see the whole court. Hopefully Parker will be back!

Last night while watching the Clippers/Nuggets game, I came to the realization that McGee has got to be energetic person in the whole nba while he's on he bench. Everytime someone on the nuggets dunked it he's running up and down the sidelines with his hands in the air. Which is weird because his face was emotionless when he stuffed Lamar's attempted dunk.

May get slated for this but no matter how good JR Smith is, I just can't get over the fact how big of a chucker he is. Is he better than what we have on the bench at his position? Absolutely and by a mile, I might add. But it's like playing 1 vs 5 on offense with him on your side.

That's what 6th men do, offensive spark plug to help the team. Right now I wished we did not trade Dahntay and Collison for Mahimi, and just signed Mahimi straight up. Dahntay and Collison are both better than Green/Sam Young and Auguistin.

Crawford chose to go to Portland instead of Indiana when we offered him a deal. Then he played poorly and appeared to be a dick up there, so I didn't care anymore. Then he went to LA and suddenly I'm a little sad again.

Good news for Chicago. Scary news for the rest of the league. They are plenty tough enough even without him. He probably isn't going to be 2011 Rose this season, but anything he can give them will be a massive plus. They have a top three coach in the league and will be a tough out.
