Varejao is averaging 15 and 15 while Lopez is averaging 18 and 7, just to remind you Roy made it as an all star last year while averaging 12 and 8, now you tell me what's more sad? .....
All of that is a pretty sad statement about the state of the big men in the NBA.

Assuming Greg Monroe stays at center, he's got a shot.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

There is no center distinction in the ASG anymore, just frontcourt players.

Completely forgot about that....either way, he's got a shot. Just not enough quality bigs in the east.

Meh, that sounds like he simply doesn't want to talk about it anymore, and the reporter takes it out of the ball park.
Dwight pretty much said "yes i'll stay" just yesterday.

How many more stories about max level players "not committing" to their current teams are we going to have see until people finally realize that not only is their no incentive to the player to agree to an early extension, it will actually cost them money?

I think there's no chance that either of those two guys gets the AS game nod over Tyson Chandler. If there even are two centers this year, then it's Chandler, then probably Lopez or Noah depending on team records.

Getting 15-15 on what looks like a 20 win team doesn't get you that many votes.

It's a lot more fun to pretend that a guy in his mid 20s is going to turn down making 80-100 million dollars to live in LA and play bball. Although if there ever was a guy dumb enough to make that decision it would probably be Dwight.

I'm guessing Steve Blake could use McKechnie's expertise right about now. Toronto Raptors smartly hired him last year.

The Lakers are just fascinating. To me the most interesting thing is that everyone talks about moving Pau....doesn't Kobe offer the Lakers their greatest chance to get a big time package?

Roy deserved to be an All-Star last year and maybe he be one again this year.

So far this season, with the new "big men" All-Star positions, it looks like Anderson Varejao and Brook Lopez have the best chances of being the only actual centers in the East.

They are going to get even more fascinating when Jimmy Buss takes over the team entirely.....

Kobe has a no trade clause, he's 34 years old, and he's making $30 million a year. Any one of those things would be reason enough.

Even taking all if that out of the equation, the lakers are not trading their best player and local icon.

Kobe has one of the two no-trade clauses in the NBA. I doubt he'd be willing to waive it for a team who would be willing to give up enough to get him.

Maybe straight up for Dwyane Wade though I can't see Miami doing that.

Judging by the fact he let his own ego get in the way of bringing back the Zen Meister.... Yes. And his reign is going to be FUN to watch as a Lakers hater.

I forgot about the NTC. Good point.

Even with his gigantic contract, I think Kobe could fetch a big time package if the Lakers coudl trade him.

His salary makes him untouchable to 2/3 of the league. His age makes him undesirable to most of the rest.

No team with young starts is gig to deal them away for a graybeard making $30 million a year. It makes zero sense for a. Basketball standpoint. For instance, would the wolves deal love and Rubio for Kobe? Why? He'd handicap them financially for 2 years and then retire, leaving them at square one.

I think all of the tales of the demise of the Lakers are overblown and premature. They're struggling now with a new coach, a bunch of new players, and an injury to the best PG of a generation. They'll figure it out.

honestly, i've no idea why everyone forgets Tyson Chandler. Imo, he was snubbed last year too.

Problem is all of their talent besides Dwight sucks on defense. Even Kobe can't play both ends of the floor for 40 minutes anymore.

Finished watching the Lakers-Magic game, finally.

I don't think D'Antoni made any huge tactical mistakes. But I don't think he's doing a good job managing personalities.

Pau looked like in a full meltdown mode when he was taken out, kind of like he was vs. the Pacers. Just making bad passes, not making right passes, bad body language, frustrated, doing too much and getting blocked. He was awesome for most of the game, he's clearly misused, but he looked great on both ends for the most part. But at the end, he just seemed to fall apart. Maybe it's his knees, maybe it's mental, probably both.
I wish they traded him, just as a general basketball fan. Basketball needs Pau playing on a team that wants him to do Pau things.

And it's amazing how much Duhon and Jamison suck on defense. No defensive IQ whatsoever.
On that note, keeping Duhon in the game instead of Darius Morris was probably the one big D'Antoni mistake in the game. Jamison-Duhon. That's how you allow 30 points in 6 minutes and lose a game.
Compared to this, Steve Nash will upgrade their end of game defense once he comes back.

Is Brandon Knight a "potential" guy, or is he pretty much already what he is? This question has a target audience.

True as this is, it is probably the first and last time anyone will say Steve Nash will upgrade a defense.
