Kstat, why are you here? I don't mean that in a "eww you're a Pistons fan, gtfo!" fashion, I'm genuinely asking, w/ no malice intended, why a Pistons fan frequents a Pacers forum so often.
Hicks asked me to come over from RATS 9 years ago, so here I am.

I suppose the follow up question to that is why I was on RATS to begin with, I suppose the answer to that would be I decided to stick around after the Williamson/Oneal fiasco in 2002. A year later I was the forum ROY, and almost immediately after most of us left for newly minted pacers digest.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Well he jacked up 71 3pt shots and took more than 100 overall. That's some serious ball-hogging.

“It felt like anything I tossed up was going in,” Taylor told The Associated Press.

Well, except for half of it, that is (he was 27/71 from 3, 52/108 overall)

How do you score 138 and not even shoot 50%?

That's embarrassing for the sport in general.

I love that the kid on the other team that went 34/44 for 70 points is getting no credit.

To be fair to him though, his 2PG FG was 25/37 if you remove all those threes he shot. But shooting 71 threes in one game is really ridiculous.

they chopped the quote there. He said it specifically about one stretch in the 2nd half.

But how do you take 108 shots? that's insane. They play an extreme offensive / 3pt ball system, ok. But you also have to take all the shots, never get fouled, no turnovers, and the other team has to play crazy quick ball as well...

*edit* i saw the boxscore. He didn't even play full time (36 minutes) and he had 6 turnovers. He also shot 10 free throws, which could be and-1 situations, or could be actual possessions that didn't count as shots. So overall, he could be close to 120 possessions. In 36 minutes.
A possession (shot attempt, turnover, assist) every 18 seconds....

    The boxscore, if anyone's interested:

It seems like the other team goes all-in with full court pressing and traps. Which leads to turnovers or uncontested layups. This guy has 70 on high efficiency, while his two teammates have 16 and 15 turnovers. That strategy can work in D3, apparently.

All of this is hilarious. It seems like a bad video game.

Carlos Mencia would say it stood for, "Dee dee dee!"

That kid jacking up 108 shots to get 138 is pathetic.

So... nowhere else to put this, so I'll just put it here. For those of you who don't know, The "Gangnam" in Gangnam Style is an area in Seoul, and I happen to live there haha. All of my students bust out singing this song at least 3 times a day, so every time I'm watching games on LP, and I hear it in the arena music I can't help laughing my *** off. Thinking about filming my students singing and dancing it, and posting it here, haha. I've already started training them to be big Pacers fans, and they loved the Roy Gangnam Style video.

Honestly there is not a story that has irritated me more than this kid scoring 138 points on 108 shots. That game is bad basketball. Period.

52 out of 108 is shooting 48% from the field. For that many shots in that time span, that's a pretty damn good shooting percentage. 27/71 is 38% from three, which again, considering that many shot attempts in that time period, is pretty damn good shooting.

I'm not sure why people are so worked up over it. The lack of team work?

Who cares if it was cheap. It's DIII basketball.

49 turnovers? This will now be the record for college basketball. This wasn't college basketball. I'm kind of doubting all these guys even played high school ball.

I don't see it is so exciting that's my whole thing.

I think pressing and trapping a bible college when you're up by 70 points in the 2nd half is very poor taste.

This isn't the NBA. These kids aren't even on scholarship.

I didn't say it was good basketball. I really wasn't addressing what you said, just happened to be right after you, but rather the posters talking about the amount of shots he took to get to 138. His shooting percentages are good for regular night leading scorers (20-30pts) let alone for 138pts. I guess you can knock the effeciency due to the lack of FTs, but when you shoot 71 3pters I don't think you're really looking to get to the line.

But the issue with it being a record for the NCAA, that criticism goes to the NCAA. Why they have one set of records for all three divisions is beyond me.

The bigger issue, IMHO, is why they continued to full court trap and throw up shots so quickly when they were up by 70pts. They're lucky it was between two Christian schools, or the kid might have had his legs taken out from under him.

Right now Kobe is shooting 52.8% on the season. The best he's ever shot in a season is 46.9%. He's having a tremendous season so far.

Did you watch the end of last nights game? From lip reading I got the gist of the FT line convo between Kobe/GWallace, but apparently Wallace was trying to get him to shoot the FT with his eyes closed, like MJ. He (Wallace) didn't say how much the bet was worth, but I thought in real time Kobe said 5G. I know Wallace didn't take it, and Kobe proceeded to call him "pussy" through the shot, and as they were walking to the benches following the TO called after he sunk it.

Not the article that I read earlier but this will do. (Has video but not sure exactly what it is since I can't see youtube) But looks like I got the 5G part right.

Dunlap uses the phrase "Smashmouth basketball" at the 1:35 point here. Not a perfect parallel, but here we have a new coach, working with a couple of talented young players, who is able to motivate his team as of this point. Wasn't sure about this hire initially, but I like him as an NBA coach:
