    Default Paul George of recent

I have known PG playing a lot better as of late. He seems more assertive and non-passive. Could this mean that PG is playing better with Granger out of the lineup? After watching last nights game, PG seemed to be playing well after starting off really poorly. Hes scoring, passing and rebounding the ball well.

What could this mean for Granger? What are the chances of both swingmen playing well together? This reminds me of the situation that Vince Carter and Tracey McGrady had in Toronto.

It's not that he couldn't do this with Danny on the floor, it's that the coaches (up until last May, at least) would rather run more plays for Danny than for Paul, therefore Paul got less touches than Danny.

However, it seems like that may change this year and they might get roughly equal amounts of plays called for them both. But it will also depend on what the defense gives them; it sounds like the plan is to look to the post first, and if it's one on one let Roy and David go to work, and if not, wherever the defense is weakest (the PG, the SG, or the SF) is where we'll attack. So there's at least two key factors in play. Neither of which is Paul's automatic inability to play like this merely because Danny Granger is also on the court.

In other words, Danny isn't doing anything to slow down Paul George.

I completely agree. The reason our starting lineup was top in the league last year is that everyone is above average. We may not have a superstar or two or three like some teams, but each person in the starting lineup can go have a huge night on any given day. That's why this team is so dangerous.

Pacers should always look to get Roy going first, but if that's taken away, you go to Granger, then West, then PG, then Hill.

I'm not sure anyone will avg 20+ this year, but I think the entire starting lineup should avg 13+ each.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

I like our offensive options now. Couldn't say that a few years ago. We have 4 guys who can legitimately score the ball, whether on iso or within a team play. West and Hibbert can both score and facilitate from the low post, and Granger and PG are both capable of scoring from the wings in the same manner. Then you got GHill who just has to facilitate the offense and pick his spots.

It's a pretty lethal starting five. There's really not one guy you can ignore if you're a defense. PG looks like a different guy in the pre-season, time will tell if that holds up. He definitely looks more in control and confident and less passive.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

If Danny and Dunleavy could be major cogs in the wheel back in the day, then PG and Danny can be. The only difference is that Roy and West need touches in the paint for our offense to work. So if ever there was a time to have an either or situation, it is going to be this year.

But until PG can be a CONSISTENT scorer, this is a moot concern. The first half of the season will see if he is consistent.

The thing I've enjoyed the most is the "get to the basket" mentality. If he can keep that up, his offense will rise simply from FTA. We should definitely look to the post early and often, but if we continue to have PG crash the weak side for back cuts, ally oops, or quick ISO's for a drive to the basket, we'll be in great shape against most teams
