Default Donald Brown, Robert Mathis Out 2-3 Weeks

    http://www.indystar.com/article/2012...miss-2-3-weeks

The Indianapolis Colts will be without leading rusher Donald Brown for Sunday’s road game against the New York Jets. Brown had surgery Tuesday to repair torn knee cartilage, interim coach Bruce Arians said today. The initial timetable on Brown’s return is two to three weeks, Arians said.

The Colts coach said rookie Vick Ballard would start Sunday. Delone Carter is expected to back up Ballard, who has 42 yards on 21 carries in limited action through four games. Brown has 239 yards on 60 carries with one TD.

Brown, ironically, suffered the injury on his final play in Sunday’s 30-27 home upset of Green Bay, when the running back scored on a two-point conversion run.
    EDITED TO ADD MATHIS NEWS:

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to be without linebacker Robert Mathis for two or three games, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The team’s leading sack producer sprained his left knee in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the Green Bay Packers and did not return.

Mathis traveled to Atlanta for a second medical evaluation of his knee and it confirmed the injury will keep him out of the lineup for a few games, starting with Sunday’s road game against the New York Jets.

Mathis leads the Colts and is tied for eighth in the NFL with five sacks. He has registered at least one sack in seven consecutive games dating back to last season. That’s the third-longest streak in club history. Dwight Freeney holds the record with a sack in nine straight games while Mathis had an eight-game streak in 2005.

Mathis ranks second in club history with 88 1/2 sacks. He’s been durable as well as productive. He’s missed only nine of a possible 148 regular-season games since 2003. Earlier, the Colts announced running back Donald Brown would miss two or three games after undergoing surgery on Tuesday to repair torn cartilage in his knee.

I'll miss them both. Time for Hughes and Ballard/Carter to step up.

Here's hoping Vick Ballard can stay on his feet.

Mathis is a huge blow. When was the last time Mathis and Freeney were both healthy?

They were both pretty healthy over the past couple of seasons. Overall, they have been very durable given the extremely physical positions they play.

I'm not syaing they haven't been durable per say, just seems like it is quite often one comes up and the other goes down. It's happened multiple times throughout their career I feel like. Just some bad luck.

Yeah, it certainly sucks that they have both battled injuries this year. I hate that Brown is hurt too because he looked pretty solid against the Packers.

He did, I was very impressed. Better than I think I've seen him, really. Hopefully when he comes back he can pick up where he left off.
