Default Eric Gordon already having nagging injury problems?

    http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/10...-is-acting-up/

It’s tough to tell what to make of the news release that came out from the New Orleans Hornets this afternoon. Eric Gordon is experiencing soreness in the same knee had just had surgically repaired.

“Gordon will have limited participation in training camp due to soreness in his right knee,” the statement reads. “Eric experienced soreness in his right knee while participating in voluntary workouts with the team at the end of the summer. Gordon underwent arthroscopic surgery last season on his right knee and returned to full strength at the end of the season and during the Olympic try-outs.

“The team is taking a cautious approach with Eric to give him the best chance to be ready for the season,” General Manager Dell Demps said.

The news release was a mere two paragraphs.

So what this means for the Hornets is a mystery. When you have “sore” and “surgically-repaired” in the same sentence, it is usually not a good thing.

But in an interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Gordon didn’t sound overly concerned:

“Just a little aggravation right now and I’m not very concerned,” Gordon said during Monday’s media day at the Alario Center. “It’s just something that you hate to deal with at this point and time. But at the same time, I’m looking forward to getting ready and progressing during camp.”

The Hornets matched the max offer Gordon received from the Phoenix Suns, making him the co-cornerstone of their rebuilding, along with No. 1 pick Anthony Davis.

Gordon played in only 9 games last season after being acquired as the centerpiece of the Chris Paul trade.
I know I'm kicking the hornets (no pun intended) nest here, but I'm glad we aren't the ones paying him a max contract to wear an expensive suit half the season.

After he quit on the Hoosiers, I never wanted him on the Pacers this just makes that stance much more legit.

He was probably right to quit on that version of the Hoosiers. I won't hold that against him but he is and always has been frail..... ...

It's all a smokescreen. He's trying to force a trade to Indy. Maybe if we gave up Granger, Hibbert, and our next three first-round picks, we could convince Nawlins to trade him and we could acquire a superstar talent.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Uh....you might want to fact check there really quick. Gordon didn't quit on the team, however his injury issues were already showing through then. He was the first guy to bring up the fact that people were more interested in doing cocaine than getting wins on the bball court.

Yeah, he was one of the few who didn't quit on the team that year.

Yeah played with that broken wrist for what the last 2 and a half months of the season? Guy just isn't very durable for whatever reason. I like having him and DJ around the bball program though.

Yeah I do too, great ambassadors to IU basketball.

I hope this latest injury isn't anything serious, but often times with Gordon it never is. But there is always, always something nagging at him.

Gordon probably sprained his ankle coming out of the womb. He wouldn't even get a mention here if he'd gone to Georgia or some other school outside Indiana.

    You mean he's getting a Pacers 2012 - 2013 NBA Championship ring?

Sounds like the same thing the Pacers are doing with Granger. Precautionary measures to make sure he doesn't tweak anything before the season gets underway. He's been in the league long enough to know how things work; training camp will be more important for the new guys. But that's going to cause some chemistry issues if Austin Rivers doesn't learn how to pass to EJ.

Austin Rivers needs to learn how to pass it to anybody. I'm not sure that I would be comfortable with him as my "point guard of the future" if I am a Hornets fan. But you've got Anthony Davis so **** it.

Oh, whoever GM's the Hornets will realize soon enough that Rivers is actually Gordon's future replacement. They have a very similar playing style, except Rivers is taller. I would LOVE to see Rivers turn into a player like that. He's going to be a star anyway, but I just hope he keeps his mind about him. Besides that, unless Myck Kabongo makes a huge turn this year, the Hornets GM is going to need to find a free agency or trade scenario that will bring a REAL point guard to the team. It will probably involve Gordon getting traded elsewhere, so they will hopefully get something of value for him.

Regardless, in response to your comment, Rivers has potential to be a point guard, but he doesn't have the mindset. He can pass, he has amazing court vision, but his focus is scoring. At some point, the Hornets roster will look a lot more impressive than it already does.

Pretty sure the interest in Gordon has officially been put to sleep around here. The fact that he got a huge contract without even playing last year pretty much ended any realistic thoughts of him coming here. The fact that he may never stay healthy only compounds that.

It's probably to the point that "news" on EJ should probably be paid no more attention than news on Dennis Rodman or George Mikan. They're all irrelevant to the Pacers and only interesting to talk about under really strange circumstances.

I had arthroscopic knee surgery for a torn ACL last October. I play high school football and myself feel sore after every practice/game and ice every night. During summer work outs I'd take time off occasionally to not over work the knee when it wasn't necessary. I don't see this as a problem that will plague Gordon terribly throughout the year, but I do not back any notion that the Pacers should go after him.
