Donnie Walsh is back at the helm for the Indiana Pacers
INDIANA PACERS – Donnie Walsh is back, Larry Bird is gone, Roy Hibbert is staying, and – lest anyone forget – they had the Heat down 2-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals (reminder: Dwyane Wade vs. Erik Spoesltra). Darren Collison, who wasn’t happy after losing his job to George Hill, has been swapped out for D.J. Augustin. They snapped up Gerald Green, who had the best season that no one noticed last year after joining the Newark Nets at midseason. Brooklyn wanted to keep him but couldn’t offer the money the Pacers could. Ian Mahinmi has been brought in to spell Hibbert. Every single one of those moves fortifies a sneaky good team that starts Hibbert, David West, Hill, Paul George and Danny Granger. They are 38-1 to win the title, a factoid lotto players and other take-a-flyer gamblers should be aware of. They will win their division easily over Chicago and be the No. 2 seed in the East. More analysis here.

    Grade: A
"Your course, your path, is not going to be like mine," West says. "Everybody is not called to be a multimillionaire. Everybody's not called to be the president. Whatever your best work is, you do it. Do it well. … You cease your own greatness when you aspire to be someone else."

This is how I feel, people have really underrated our moves and they haven't even had the chance to see them in action all that much.

This is the first analysis where someone has actually named off all three of the rotation players we brought in. Chris Sheridan is the best national NBA reporter in the business IMO. He knows the moves the Bucks, Kings, and Pacers make. Not just the NBA golden children. And he also knows their players' skill sets and rotations. Is that too much to ask in this day and age? And he doesn't butcher salary cap explanations.

Anyway, I absolutely agree with his assessment. As for the "A" grade, I think that it might be a bit much if you are in the camp that thought we need to spend, because we had the chance to. If you are in the fiscally conservative group of individuals assessing this, the A is definitely appropriate.

If we had managed to get Brand and trade Hansborough for Augustin. I would say it was an A. B+ seems more in line I would day.

I'm old enough to know better than to expect anything too specific, but I can honestly say I'm excited and curious to see how this group does.

I'm assuming the rotation will probably be:

    Hill, Augustin
    George, Young or Stephenson
    Granger, Green
    West, Hansbrough or Plumlee
    Hibbert, Mahinmi

Could be a damn good (not great) group. Just have to wait and see.

Thankfully, we're finally creeping up on training camp (it's about, what, two weeks or so?).

This A hinges on Green working out and playing like he did last year.

If he doesn't its more like a C+ or B-

I think it hinges on our bench in general. If it looks better, it was a good summer.

yeah, this. If the Pacers can come up with a PG, wing and big that can play, then it's all good.
