Rees still makes me incredibly nervous. I haven't forgotten his propensity to turn the ball over on a whim. Golson, while he did turn it over today, is in general better about protecting the ball, which is really the smart play with a defense this dominating.
That's probably why I actually am okay with Golson over Rees most of the time but Rees manages to be clutch when it counts at least this season.

I just fear that there's going to be one game where the defense will not deliver and the offense has to win the game.

No it was another close game and when it comes to these games he puts Tommy Rees in to win it(Purdue, Michigan and now Stanford)

I mean don't get me wrong I get why he's starting Golson but at the same time I can't help but thinks it rattles his confidence to see someone else being sent in to close the game.

He has to learn how to do it.

Then again this actually works go figure.

The irony of someone named T. Rees beating Stanford isn't lost on me.
He has a concussion. He still hasn't been cleared to practice. He was playing well at the end of the game.

I'm convinced at this point that Golson has naked pics of the chancellor.
Golson and Rees complement each other well. Gameplanning against Rees is easy because he's not mobile. Send 3 guys and you'll be fine. Against Golson, he'll run if he has space. By starting Golson, it gives Rees a huge advantage because there hasn't been any gameplanning for him, although that might change now if he starts on Saturday. Golson is the future. He is turnover-prone but he makes a lot of really good throws and is a threat to run. The 2 QB system is working perfectly.

It's not working perfectly. ND is still struggling mightly to score the ball, outside of the Navy/U games. Their defense has just been on another planet. Without their stellar play, and if it was just average ND defense, there would be trouble in South Bend offensively.

Winning covers up a lot of things.

That's because winning is the goal. Style points for blowing other teams to hell don't count for anything.

How ****ing stupid are the Oklahoma fans? They're loud as hell while their team is on offense. Dumb.

If the center could hear the QB, maybe he doesn't snap it early.

Good to know I was not the only one thinking that

I actually saw a tweet twitter that said "today's game features the highest graduate percentage versus the lowest" or something to that effect, and ended with "you figure out which team is which". Was just funny cause I saw that right after the crowd went nuts when they were in the red zone.

Maybe they need a "SHHHH QUIET OFFENSE AT WORK" sign on the jumbo-tron like the Redskins have at Fedex

They'll never be as trained as Colts fans have been during the Manning era.... when the offense takes the field.

IU bball number 1 in the country...Notre Dame football solidly in the top 5. We are either at the end of the world as we know it, or somewhere in the mid 80s.

The world is a better place when Notre Dame is good. I am sorry that I cannot say the same thing about IU basketball.... I still hate them... Go, Kentucky..... at least when they play IU....

I thought it looked beautiful. Our defense was suffocating in a hostile environment. Our rushing attack was damaging and controlling the clock. Golson was accurate and we did not turn over the ball. I don't see how it was in any bit ugly. The BYU games was ugly. The Purdue game was ugly. But we put 31 points AT Oklahoma. This is an improvement.

I wasn't sure we were going to come back and win, but I was confident, almost certain, they were going to mount a comeback.

I hope these young men got a wake up call and realized teams are not going to roll over just because they are playing ND. They need to show up every week.

And please lord, leave Reese on the bench. Good grief he had a terrible throw (granted Everett also missed some really bad reads in the first quarter)

I'm always an optimist. But, I'd be lying if I told you that I thought we'd be sitting at #4 in week 11. Irish, Pacers and Colts all had close-calls this weekend. It's been a fun year so far.

I don't see a thread for this, but it tangentially concerns the Irish, so I'll throw it in here: Alabama is looking very vulnerable against Texas A&M today. Johnny Manziel is amazing to watch. The Aggies have a talent for blowing big leads, so I think game is very, very far from over, but their offense is really good. If Bama loses this game...the Irish are sitting pretty for a possible BCS National Title game.

They're 3rd in the BCS rankings now

Have to hope ND wins out and either Kansas St or Oregon loses in the next two weeks

Ugh...only thing I hate about it is now the SEC is almost assuredly in the title game again with either Alabama or Georgia (actually hoping for Georgia for a little change). If Notre Dame loses to USC (seems less likely if Barkley is injured) then all hell breaks loose, I'm guessing Oregon goes back to #2 if they win out.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

    Wow

The funny thing is that it took the alums of RGIII and Luck to help Notre Dame accomplish this.

    What are the odds?
