    Default McAfee help needed

Not too far back I upgraded to McAfee Total Protection and everthing was fine. Now whenever a scan is initiated the McAfee window is greyed out. (I can get to HELP and HOME though) and the scan never completes. I recently tried to download an update and rec'd the message that they could find no McAfee products on my system.

I've tried and tried but found no way to contact McAfee in regards to this problem. Any help out there?

Uninstall and reinstall the program for starters.

    Do what Sandman21 said first.

On a side note. Do not EVER pay for Antivirus protection. Go with a good free one, I guarantee you they work just as well. Most of the free ones are less intrusive and use less resources as a added bonus.

AVG Free, Avast Free and Avira Free are 3 of the biggys, they are bunch more. Do a google search "best free anti virus 2012", you'll get a million articles. I tried dozens over the years on mine and other people's PC's. Personally I like Avira Free the best, it does virus, adwear/malware, as do many others. Which ever one you pick, always do a custom install so no "helpful" toolbars are installed.

Microsoft Security Essentials is your friend of the freebies. Avast got way too paranoid for me, AVG annoyed the crap out of me and I just didn't care much for Avira. MSE just plain works.

For some reason I was thinking I had McAfee as part of my uVerse "bundle" and I had added to that.

Now if I could just get rid of all of these "Dell Remote Access" and other dell pop-us that keep occurring..........other than getting rid of the dell.

Control Panel - Programs and Features. It should be in there. First thing I do when I deploy a Dell at a client site: Remove the extra crap on it.
