The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

The injury aside, people act like Peyton didn't miss an entire season. That alone's going to make him rusty.

They just need to keep running the ball

I'm wondering if having a real game under his belt, with all the physicality that it entails, is a factor?

Of course he'll probably adjust and go 30-30 and destroy the Falcons and put the question marks away for another day.

EDIT: Wasn't that what some doctor's were saying... Things could be going fine with the rehab and then as soon as he ramps things up the symptoms start recurring?
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Denver's defense is playing terrific. 3 picks, and Denver only down 10.

This is looking like a classic peyton comeback. Falcons are letting them sit around.

Atlanta really hasn't taken advantage the way they should have. This game is still very winnable for Denver.

It's pretty clear that nobody respects these refs. I actually feel sorry for them.

This reminds me of that game against the Chargers in 2007. Manning threw like 12 picks, but we still had a chance of winning it (Vinny missed a chip shot FG)

Yup, the giant that landed on it initially came out of the pile with it. Pretty clearly Denver, but again, these refs are just not up to pair with the typical officials.

I predict that any day now, you see a story about the NFL beginning a backlash against the ref bashing going on in the media. The NFL can't be happy with the way the broadcaster are regularly roasting these guys. Not that they don't deserve it.

Ref probably told the atlanta player that it was his ball and denvers fatty acted like he came out with it.

and nobody will buy it, these refs are so out of bounds. frankly, the NFL should have paid the refs pre-season. If I'm the real refs, I just upped my demands. Business class to games. At least Economy Plus! I think their position is getting stronger by the game, and no amount of damage control by the NFL is going to change that.

Oh yeah this is the NFL's worst nightmare right here. Their replacement refs are sucking out loud on national prime time television in Peyton's first appearance on MNF in forever. Yeah this sucks for them.

I've always thought the NFL refs were the best of professional sports, but I've had my complaints. I can never be disgruntled with them at this point. They are clearly the best.

The refs are doing a better job than some of the media/commentators are giving them credit for. Regular refs blow calls too. As far as the respect thing, it's a chicken or the egg thing.... if the media would start talking up the job these refs are doing they wouldn't be undermining them.

Plus, the quickest way to end this standoff with the normal refs is for them not to seem so important to the NFL. TV shouldn't be exaggerating the poorness of the current officiating any more than they should be overly praising it. If they blow a call... just say it's a blown call. Exactly how they would call it if it was a normal ref. Don't go into analogies about these refs not evening being the 2nd string and instead like a team of 6th round draft picks....

We aren't even half way through the second quarter and the game has been going on for an hour and a half. There is more to being a referee than making calls. The pace of the game is completely destroyed in this game.

Do I feel bad for the replacement referees? Yes, like I feel bad for someone that gets blamed when they clearly aren't qualified for the job at hand. Just pay the professionals.

The refs have been just plain awful today. There was no pass interference there at all.

Manning made a good throw there, but the Atlanta safety made a great play.

How could that not be called a touchdown?
