That was a very improbable run, due to SpyGate, that led to the Patriots stealing the AFC championship game in Pittsburgh. Fixed.
Yes, we all know that the Pats knowing tendencies of the Pittsburgh defense caused the Pittsburgh offense to have 4 turnovers and caused Pittsburgh's special teams to give up two touchdowns!

(edit: I know that you know this, but other fans seem to bring it up on occasion)

PS: Mike Tomlin wanted Vick to be a Steeler! The Rooneys were opposed.

Hey, I put this smiley "" in it because even though SpyGate was going on, the Steelers flat out deserved to lose that game that day. I've never said otherwise. And its funny how so many people in other cities throughout the league like to talk about SpyGate as if it made much of a difference what went on during the game itself.

I always forget that Bledsoe came in and played well.

Also, I bet you were pretty cranky after watching Kordell Stewart throw it 42 times that game. Ouch.

Jerome Bettis 9 rushing attempts for 8 yards? Am I reading that right? Pitt had no running game whatsoever that game. Those have to be some of the worst running stats I've ever seen.

Let me see that box again...

Bettis was leading the league in rushing at game #11 when he had an injury, and that was his first appearance in a game in about two months.

We became a passing team over the second half of that season by necessity, which continued through the Tommy-Gun era.

Still, if special teams doesn't give up 2 TDs, in a one-possession game.. That irked me even more than the lack of running.

Yeah, there really is nothing more irritating than losing a game because of a meltdown from the special teams.

BTW, during combine week in Indy this year, I literally drove right past Mike Tomlin as he was walking alone on Maryland St near The Hyatt.

Tim Jennings is the NFC Defensive Player of the Month. And he absolutely deserves it.

Tell you what, they've got a great coaching staff over at Steelers West and they're getting more out of that roster than I thought was possible.

The Whis is a very good coach, no question about that. He'll get the most out of that roster. But that team is going to come back to Earth. Their offensive line was shredded last night and Kobb was sacked 9 times. I remember watching a preseason game of theirs against the Titans where the O-Line was shredded like last night. They could barely evaluate Kobb vs Skelton because neither had much time to do anything with the ball. They play Buffalo next week, but after that are @ Min, SF, @GB, @ ATL. That's pretty rough four game stretch.

Looking at their schedule and roster, 5-11 still seems reasonable. Maybe 6-10. Yes, I know what that means for a formerly 4-0 team.

The question is why the big difference between when he played here and what he obviously is now? Did he just grow and develop into that? Was it coaching? Was it the style of defense (doesn't Chicago play a cover 2 also?)? I always felt that he gave such a big cushion to receivers because he was told to play that way. Did our coaches expect him to get beat on deep passes? He would sure look good as a Colt now although he certainly would have been swept out in the "purge"..... ...

Nope they weren't going to win

Even if Manning outplayed Brady it still wasn't enough with how awful the D was.

    Really

The Patriots have a punishing, hard-nosed, run-through-contact running game all of a sudden. Consecutive 200+ yard games on the ground?

we hardly ever blitz the goal of the cover 2 is to get pressure with your front 4 and for the most part we do. We do blitz occasionally mostly nickle or LB but for the most part we don't blitz much we just rush 4 and drop 7.

our defense is silly good and Tim Jennings has been a beast ever since he has been here I dont know why the Colts let him go. Hell Kelvin Hayden has been great for us this year I think it's mainly because our front 4 is so good at stopping the run and getting to the QB our corners job is easy really. Peanut Tillman is probably our best CB of all time and the main reason is he plays the cover 2 better than anyone and still a good guy on man coverage. Tim is just really good at the cover 2 and this year has been so good at playing his man 1v1. This is the best Bears defense I have ever seen and it's scary it gets better every week.

I knew this was going to happen as soon as Suisham missed that FG of course they kept talking about how he hasn't missed all season until you know he did.
