    Cutler looks absolutely horrible tonight.
He's getting chased around and beat up worse than Luck was last week. They just had a 3 man rush chasing him around in the backfield. How messed up is that?

Glad to see the Bears back to reality last night. They've got to be my least-favorite team in the NFL.

They've shown exactly why they'll be 7-9 or 8-8 this year. 9-7 if they're lucky. They'll beat up the bottom-feeders and get smashed by the legit contenders all season long.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I thought that I was the only person who didn't see them as contenders. Everyone seems to be in love with them.

If he could put it together for a whole season, they could be a contender. That's a big IF tho.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

I agree with this if he has time he's pretty good.

But this is a rivalry game and he wrote his own ticket when he started talking smack.

To be fair to Cutler he is playing behind a terrible offensive line. I think Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, Peyton Manning, maybe Drew Brees, and Big Ben are currently the only QBs in the league who can overcome that awful offensive line the Bears have. I understand the question marks surrounding Cutler but I think their o-line is what has held that team back the most.

Actually it's been a couple of years since they won a game with smothering D, held a running team to 1 yard per carry, and had a lead running back get 125 yards on 6 ypc. Their #1 pick got a strip sack, #2 pick a recovery for a TD, #3 pick a redzone INT. Last year's #31-rated defense has been upgraded dramatically.

I hope Ridley keeps it up. My fantasy team needs him. I also have Welker, Gronk, and the Pats D. I hope for my sake that Welker gets targeted more this week than last.

Yeah, it's safe to say that I'm "interested" in every Pats game.

The O-Line definitely do him any favors, but some of those throws were just inexcusable. To be fair though, Brandon Marshall dropped a TD that was right on his fingertips.

NFL pulls replacement official/Saints fan from Saints-Panthers game

Posted by Mike Florio on September 16, 2012, 10:17 AM EDT

    Getty Images
A replacement official has been replaced.

ESPNís Chris Mortensen reports that the NFL has pulled side judge Brian Stropolo from the Saints-Panthers game, because he is a rabid Saints fan. (The guy in the picture isnít Stropolo. At least, we think itís not Stropolo.)

The evidence was pieced together from Stropoloís Facebook page, which show him in Saints gear and also standing outside the Superdome for a preseason game.

It could be an isolated incident, or it could be the tip of the iceberg. The replacement officials have never worked at the NFL level, and they surely have teams they ďlikeĒ and teams they donít.

The locked-out officials surely have (or at least had) their preferences and biases, too. But once you choose to make officiating a career (or at least a second career), itís time to be impartial.

The fact that Stropolo slipped through the cracks demonstrates the speed with which the league slapped together the replacement crews. So whether itís Stropolo being a Saints fans or Shannon Eastin being a professional poker player or ó far more importantly ó a possible Tim Donaghy who is trying to parlay a short-term NFL gig into a major score, the NFL doesnít know as much about the replacements as it does about the regular officials, and itís important for the NFL to continue to turn over stones as the lockout of the regular officials proceeds.

NFL seems to have a lot more fighting between the teams this year. Both the Rams and the Saints have behaved little better than common criminals at some point in the games against the Redskins. I know its the NFL and its somewhat dirty, but it seems a lot worse this year. The other two games I watched closely (Broncos-Steelers and Colts-Bears) no one seemed really out of line.

I haven't been able to pay much attention due to coaching my son's fall Tee Ball team, but maybe the replacement refs don't have the same command of the game the regular refs do and the players know it. Maybe they are pushing it to see what they can get away with.

Did anyone see the story about the NFL having to replace one of the refs for the Saints game today. Turns out his Facebook page says he's a Saints fan, and has many pictures of him in Saints gear. There were even comments from his friends on his wall to go "easy" with the flags on the Saints this week. LOL.

Woops didn't see that BF posted this story above.

I really don't think they are that bad. People are going to ***** about the refs regardless if they are replacements or not. There's enough instant replay built in to where I don't think they have had a huge impact yet. A few boners, sure, but not drastically worse than the normal refs.

Maybe this should go in the Manning/Broncos thread but I am putting it in here because this thought crossed my mind while watching the San Fransico/Detroit game right now.

What if Peyton Manning had signed with the 49ers? They are a top 3 team in the NFL at the very least, maybe #1. I think Alex Smith is better than he is given credit for and can help them win a Superbowl but this 49ers team is complete, so good in so many areas, so well coached that I can only dream of how good they could be if Peyton was the QB. Granted this is assuming the chemistry would be there.

If Manning had gone to the Niners I think there would be legitimate talks about them going undefeated. I wish he had gone there, but it seemed he wanted to stay in the AFC so he wouldn't block Eli from playing in another Super Bowl (which was stupid).
