    Default Non-Colts thread

What do you guys think about the other games?

Surprised Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, and New York all hit 40 points.

SF over GB is a shock too. I can root for the 49ers.

Gotta mention my Bucs looking solid so far too.

RG3 looked really good, I thought New Orleans would pose a more intense atmosphere, their fans were really unimpressive.

Most surprising thing to me: The Jets racking up 48 points. I thought it would take them 2+ games to score that many points.

Least surprising thing to me: Houston manhandling Miami. The Texans were looking like a Super Bowl team last year before Schaub went down, and Tannehill is nowhere near ready to run an NFL offense yet. I expect Miami to struggle mightily this year.

Philly looked way too shaky against Cleveland. I don't know what the hell the Browns are doing--Colt McCoy was never that bad, he just never had any weapons to throw to. Now you draft a 28 year old guy in the first round and throw him out there in the same situation? Seems like a minor step back for a team that didn't need a minor step back.

Surprised that Detroit had that much trouble with St. Louis.

New England did what New England does. I don't expect the Titans to be very good this year--no matter if Locker or Hasselbeck is the QB.

Atlanta looked good against KC. They are a buzz team, but they need to prove their mettle come playoff time.

Jacksonville and Minnesota--tough to decipher much from that game. I don't expect either team to be very good this season, so that game was about what I expected.

I don't need to say anything about the Skins/RGIII--that is going to blow up our TVs/radios/sports columns all week. I'm already tired of hearing about it.

The 49ers effort in Lambeau was one of the most impressive of the day. They look like Super Bowl contenders. Alex Smith looked good, and that defense is brutal.

    Arizona and Seattle both suck.

Tampa Bay might be decent, Carolina might suck.

Atlanta reminds me of the Colts in like 2002-2003. Great team on paper, but kinda finesse and really needs to prove something in the playoffs.

Yeah, they really do. They lack a certain toughness I think. I read something similar on ESPN this week, but it was more about comparing Matt Ryan's first three seasons to Peyton Manning's.

Actually it's been a couple of years since they won a game with smothering D, held a running team to 1 yard per carry, and had a lead running back get 125 yards on 6 ypc. Their #1 pick got a strip sack, #2 pick a recovery for a TD, #3 pick a redzone INT. Last year's #31-rated defense has been upgraded dramatically.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Well, I meant just blowing out crappy teams, but you're right, the way they did it was different.

It was the Titans without Kenny Britt?

I hope Ridley keeps it up. My fantasy team needs him. I also have Welker, Gronk, and the Pats D. I hope for my sake that Welker gets targeted more this week than last.

Yeah, it's safe to say that I'm "interested" in every Pats game.

I never expected the Jets to score like they did. I am scratching my head considering the Jets lack (at least appear to) weapons on offense and what should be an improved Bill's defense.

I predicted the 49ers to beat the Packers. I think they are by far the most complete team in the NFL.

That was a classic Peyton touchdown drive. This is surreal to watch. You can't help but root for the guy.

I need Peyton to not run I think Archie is faster.....

But yeah even though I don't care for the Broncos that much its nice to see Peyton back in form.

I fear when Andrew Luck progresses and Irsay decides to cut bait he too will defect to Denver(Elway, Manning) it will take the Colts become Broncos a whole new meaning.....

Giants lose to Cowboys, Saints lose to 'Skins, Packers lose to 9'ers... all the "powers" are being toppled. The Jets actually put a good whoopin on the Bills after having such a bad preseason and all that drama. Cam Newton looked mortal, and Russell Wilson's "magical" run didn't go so smooth against the Cards.

    Been a crazy season already.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

Manning threw his 400th TD to Demariyus Thomas

Was hoping it would've been Stokley (since he caught #49 years ago) or Tamme though.

Schiano has them playing physical and paying attention to detail. Plus he's focusing on running the ball. I think that'll equate to at least a solid team.

Manning to Tamme (why couldn't this have been his 400th TD instead of 401?)

man, I don't know if I've even been so pissed about a win today with Philly. The positive is that the defense was excellent, but it was also the Browns so can't read much into that. The Browns do have a great defense (top 5 last year), but what the **** was that today? Vick started off so sharp and then just wasn't reading the defense well at all. I think a lot of it comes down to Andy Reid not knowing what a balanced offense is. The Run/Pass ratio was 56 passes to 30 rushes. 7 of those rushes were Vick scrambling. So 63 called passes to 23 called rushes. Complete joke. And its not like we have a bad running game. LeSean McCoy is one of the best backs in the league and is the best player on the team.

And then the penalties.... Very undisciplined football between the turnovers and penalties. Poor coaching imo. Reid better get this **** together because the Ravens are a week away.

Peyton and the Broncos look good. The 49ers look really good. Jets did too.

It's just nice to see Peyton Manning doing his thing while also having a really good defense to back him up.

I don't know during the 3 Q I was thinking that was the Colts defense he had the ball for 2 plays and one of them was a TD.

He barely had the ball in the third.

If Manning stays healthy, then he easily leads this current Colt team to a minimum of 10 wins. No question.
