I think you're underselling Vonleh. The guy gets compared to Durant on a daily basis. So if UK will be overrated so will we most likely.

Nah I am just being wary. Perea was supposed to be a contributor this year. And I want to keep expectations in check. And really I am just factoring in the BSPN factor. They will overrate Kentucky. And until I see us with reliable SG play next year, I would be wary to call us the #1 team

Unless Wiggins, who by all accounts seems to be the next great player goes to Kentucky, of course IU will be number 1 next year if Zeller comes back. I don't even think it'll be close.

Of course, I also think it's crazy to even suggest that Zeller might be back.

IU players are fun to watch- and seem like a great group of kids. Cal doesnt recruit students- I'll give you that. That's why I have lost some of my passion toward the program- and why I have come to respect IU more than during the Sampson/Davis years.

I don't think its all that crazy. He loves college, hes dropped in this years draft so his draft position won't be too much different. And if we win it all this year, he will have a chance to repeat and forever have bragging rights over his Brother.

If it was any other kid I wouldn't think he would come back either- But the Zeller family is solid- both morally and financially (from what I read). I wouldnt bet against him coming back- unless IU wins the championship this year---then I say he goes.

Because being able to tell your brother, "nana nana boo boo, I've got two and you don't," is totally worth a couple million dollars.

Of course, finacially I thought it was a no brainer last season and he didn't go so maybe the money doesn't mean much to him.

While there are a lot of factors that might make discussion of Cody possibly coming back worthwhile, and not crazy, I think he would be absolutely crazy to consider it.

You don't make your money on your first deal in the NBA anyway. You make it on your second. Plus it seems to me the whole argument that it removes a year from your pro career is turning out false. These phenoms who came out at 18 aren't having longer careers, they are just breaking down younger.

And I was just thinking about it. If Zeller doesn't stay, he is likely to say goodbye to a business degree.

I-Core isn't something you can just take half of, then jump back in next year.

Which is why he is taking it in the summer. The whole program lasts both summer sessions, and after that, the classes he needs to take he won't necessarily have to be on campus for.

If he's going pro, he won't take I-Core at all. Way too time consuming.

The kid being signed up for any combinations of classes has absolutely zero bearing on him going pro or not.

Talk on Hoosiersportsnation is that he won't be able to do both because of commitments. He would have to miss alot of team stuff, summer leagues, etc to do it. I-Core is both Summer sessions.

Although looking at the calendar, he might be able to if the team is willing to look the other way. Summer sessions don't last as long as they used to. Well I guess they start sooner.

I guess he could pull it off. I still think he may stay.

Kinda what I am thinking. He might be able to pull it off, but it would be a bit of a masochist move. But I just don't see Zeller deciding to give up on his education. He has worked so hard.

He's a business major. If he wants his degree, he has to take it at some point.

I don't think you can point to Cody taking I-Core over the summer and draw the conclusion that he's coming back next season. I'm not saying it's impossible that he does, but I do think it's highly improbable.

Yeah but to do it this summer he would have to skip any predraft workouts, and summer league games. If he were to go to the draft that is.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying him signed up means nothing.

I-Core is almost entirely group work. You can't miss any of it.

If he stays, great he is signed up.

If he leaves, he will just drop it. Much easier honeslty to come back and take I-Core after his rookie year.

Only possible if his team misses the playoffs, no guarantee in a league where over half the teams make the playoffs.

Not staying could mean him giving up on his education.

Well then that's a choice he is going to have to make one way or the other. Everyone knows what they're getting into when they go through Kelley. Personally I still think he was crazy to go that path.

Not getting my hopes up, but that family really values education. As does Cody, I think he may have worked too hard to risk giving it all up.

He wouldn't be giving anything up. He can go to the NBA this year and get his degree too.

Can you guys explain to me why he would be giving up his education? Couldn't he conceivably wait 30 years and go back and finish if he wanted to?

    Not necessarily.

At least not from IU. If hes on a playoff team, which is a real possibility, he can't do I-Core. Unless his team gets swept and hes on a plane the next day.
