People are going to be shocked at how good the IU women's basketball team will be in a few years. I'm not surprised at their struggles this season; to say Coach Miller inherited a bare cupboard would be an understatement (not quite what Crean walked into, but not far off).

I can't wait to watch Tyra Buss when she arrives in 2014. She's on pace to become the all-time leading scorer in Illinois high school history. IU also got a commitment from the top Indiana player from that class. Much better days are on the horizon for the IU women's basketball program.
No doubt. Curt Miller is a great coach and Bowling Green was a perennial Mid-Major power when he was there. He knows what he is doing.

Fred Glass has been a great AD bringing in Kevin Wilson, Curt Miller, and Todd Yeagley. Crean was hired by Greenspan.

BGSU is a customer of mine at work and my contacts there all know I went to IU. They just glow when they talk about Curt Miller. Not just as a coach, but within the community and as an ambassador to the university. I have the utmost faith in him to turn our largely pathetic women's program around.

Can anyone recall an in-rhythm, in-the-offense, not to beat the shot clock or game clock

3 pointer any further behind the stripe than this one?

I'm SOOOO glad he made it.

edit: I guess the shot clock was down to 4, but I had no sense of desperation at that heave!

That was a pretty terrible possession, though to be fair very well guarded by MSU, that resulted in a very long attempt 31 seconds into the shot clock with all 5 players behind the three point line. They probably wouldn't have gotten a better look in the next 4 seconds had he made a pass. It may not have been pure desperation but it couldn't have been much further from in-the-offense. Sometimes it's just better to be lucky than good.

I hear ya, but still, that distance is insane. It has to be 9 feet beyond the stripe. Somehow I fully expected it to go in though.

In Hulls case though, I'm not sure I can call it completely luck.

Well sure, Hulls has a better chance than most to make that shot but he probably hits that shot what, 1 out of 10 times? 2 out of 10? Any possession that gets that far into the shot clock and results in points is probably lucky. When it's from 30 feet out, even more so.

***Edit*** Chase Stigall had one from a similar range against Gonzaga. I can't remember the particulars as far as the clock situation though.

Honestly, I'd say Hulls would probably hit that shot 3 out of 10 times. He's made a few like that in the past.

I have no problem with Hulls taking that three. He has almost unlimited range. If he gets time to square up before shooting the ball is going in the hoop more often than not.

You are becoming anti-IU because people completely unconnected to the university are cheering for them? Did you hate Butler during their Final Four runs? How about appreciating the success of an instate team?
    That's only part of it.

I was watching the game at Bdubs in Muncie. When you have 5-6 people who ***** and moan about every call, and think a foul should be called on every missed shot, I start hoping to see them completely meltdown in a public place.

I'm sure it's every fan base, but everyonce in a while I'd like to see if poking them in the head with a pin would actually make them fly around the room like a balloon. It's just worse with IU because there are so many locally. Just wears non-IU fans thin hearing about how God created IU right after Eve.

Not to **** on the actual team. I like watching them, from the comfort of my couch. IU-MSU matchup is pretty much heaven.

Cody Zeller and Jordan Hulls are both Academic All-Americans. Indiana is the only school in the country with two Academic All-Americans. It's the first time since the Van Arsdale brothers were both Academic All-Americans in 1965 that IU has had two players honored as such. First IU hoopers since Luke Recker in 1999. Huge accomplishment, congrats to Jordy and Cody.

7 straight years with an academic All-American at Butler, which is an amazing feat.

From what I saw- Zeller grabbed the arm, pulled it toward him, then bent over and starting staring at the ref like he was a second grader at recess- hoping to get a call.

    Cody Zeller's Pro move?

It's absolutely hilarious to watch people go apeshit over this as if there is any chance whatsoever that anyone would ever intentionally take a hit to the sack.

Who says he thought he was going to take a hit? or even that he actually did take a hit? I think he pulled the arm, faked the reaction, and didnt get the technical call. The long look at the ref was priceless imo.

Also on that video, right after the nut-thwack, watch what Nix does with his other hand. Yes, he covers up his nuts, in case of retalliation. Do you do that if you have not just whacked somebody in the nuts?

I don't really care, since there were so many calls much worse than that no-call.

I would give a lot more credence to this theory if it wasn't freaking Cody Zeller being accused of it. That would be so wildly out of character for him.

Obviously that play had nothing to do with the outcome. Pretty crafty if he did do it. Just a hell of a win and great game to watch. I probably would not have enjoyed the game as much if I was an IU fan- nerve wracking for you guys. Especially given the Ref's calls. I could not believe they called that foul at the end of the game.

Does Hulls get judged differently because he is a grad student? I feel like he should get bonus points.

I don't think so. There were a couple of grad students in there.

Isn't Olidipo on pace to graduate at the end of this semester? Did I hear that correctly a little while ago.

Interesting that he could be on pace to graduate early from IU but still not be an academic all-American. I thought IU might actually have three this year while still being ranked near #1 all season long. Would love to see Calipari try to accomplish that.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Forgot to mention in my earlier post: Miller signed a top 30 class for next season. When Buss arrives in 2014, IU could be in the upper half of the Big Ten.

It would be great to see IU competing for conference titles on both the men's and women's side.
