IU remained No. 1 in both polls this week (as expected); Michigan State is No. 4 in the AP. A few reporters have stated this game will bring the highest combined rankings for a game ever at the Breslin Center.

    So, there's that.

If Cody has a big game tomorrow he is going to get really close to locking in the POY. He has been fantastic in Big Ten play. Vic has taken a lot of the headlines, but Cody has been great.

A big game would get him back in the discussion, but everything I have seen has him as a fringe candidate and Oladipo as the Hoosier with the real shot at the Wooden.

I don't have a great feeling about this game tomorrow night. This game is going to bring a TON of hype and you can bet our little shop of horrors will be rocking for that game.

MSU is a ranked team, so I foresee us showing up. And I would agree, barring an amazing stretch of double doubles by Cody Zeller. Oladipo is the Hoosier with the chance at the Wooden award at the moment.

I need to find it but there was fairly reputable list that had him at number 1 after the Purdue game. Look at this last 6 games, no one in the country has been better. Not even Vic.

I'm just saying, a big game won't even come close to "locking up" the NPOY. All the sources I've seen lately have been Oladipo. He has the momentum it seems.

Zeller is on a very good run, but over the course of the whole season, which the NPOY is supposed to be about, Oladipo has been the better candidate.

Cody Zeller has obviously had a more profound impact at a program level but in my opinion Victor Oladipo has done more to make this IU team great than Zeller has. That's not to disparage Zeller. He's been very good. Probably first team All-America good. But he'd have to do something pretty special the rest of the way to edge ahead of Oladipo in my eyes and certainly nothing he could do that would get him close to locking up a NPOY tonight. As much as it pains me to say it, I'd still put Mason Plumlee ahead of Zeller in the NPOY race at this point. I think Doug McDermott, Trey Burke, and Kelly Olynyk have very good cases. But if the season ended right now, it's Oladipo for me.

One of the more interesting things to me will be who claims the final spot on the first team All-B1G team. I've got to think that Zeller, Oladipo, Burke, and Deshaun Thomas are locks. Will one of Keith Appling or Gary Harris separate themselves to close the season? It seems like there should be a Spartan on the team somewhere. Will it be Tim Hardaway Jr. and leave us with two Hoosiers and two Wolverines? Could Brandon Paul get in off a middle of the pack team? Could Christian Watford make a run so that 3/5 of the roster is from Indiana? I still think it'll be one of the Michigan State backcourt guys but it's pretty open right now.

I think the 5th spot will be either Watford or Harris. A lot will probably be decided by tonight, Watford has played really well in East Lansing before and he raises his game in big moments. I wonder if we will have him front Nix in the post tonight like he did with Hammons.

Also, I think Craft would have gotten the 5th spot if Ohio State hadn't started crapping the bed.

Good luck and enjoy the game tonight. I am going to hit a local BWW to watch- I think IU wins a close one- say 81-77.

Interesting blurb on Trey Burke's profile from Chad Ford's Big Board:

    15Trey BurkeSCHOOL: MichiganCLASS: So.HT/WT: 6-0, 190POS: PG
    18 ppg3.2 rpg7 apg
The Wolverines may have lost three of their past four, but don't blame Burke. He hasn't shot the ball particularly well, but he has been his same efficient self elsewhere, averaging only two turnovers per game in his past four games despite playing against some of the toughest defenders (Aaron Craft and Yogi Ferrell) in the country.

Someone outside of Hoosierland noticing just how good Yogi is on the defensive end of the court.

Yeah, I expect a certain amount of that silliness from players, but a priest? The wording and everything was just really strange.

Honestly this game is begging for a hard foul to happen. Branden Dawson already has that crazy streak and Payne and Nix may too....let's just hope for a clean game.

If a hard foul happens it will be on either Zeller or Sheehey. I can see Sheehey being in the middle of a scrum tonight.

Yes, Will is in my mind too on one of those slashes to the hoop we run for him

Opposing players don't like him either. I love it. My dad is real old school and is always *****ing about Sheehey's antics. I'm a huge fan. I love that three point "gun to the head" thing he and some of the other guys do after they hit a three.

I thought it was pretty clearly a joke. Maybe crossing the line seeing as who he is but I didn't read much into it.

Did retweet him a few hours ago though.

I'm trying not to get my hopes too high for this one.

    -tough arena
    -tough physical match-up for IU
-Victor is probably less than 100%

If we win tonight, then we can beat anyone, anywhere, at any time. Since that seems almost too good to be true, I fear I'll see a come-down-to-Earth performance. I still think 4 losses may get a share of the Big 10 title, though, and 3 will for sure, so even a loss isn't the sky falling.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)
