Sudfeld's stats looked good. I didn't get to watch the game, how did he look?

Refs may have blown the call, but IU - as usual - has much bigger issues. They WASTED incredible 2nd & 3rd string QB play, shot themselves in the foot with penalties, were absolutely dominated in the 3rd quarter, and proudly displayed their traditional swiss cheese defense. All this at home in a supposed revenge factor game.

Ball State deserves credit for their play, but how can the D be so awful year after year? How can Mullen not be yanked after the tenth time being burnt? How can there be no QB pressure what so ever, not even a technical attempt to generate some?

I will grant that it was a very entertaining game. Sudfeld looked decent to me when he wasn't on his back/running for his life. But maybe it was mega-prevent garbage time? I don't know. His long TD was more YAC by the receiver. Whatever the case, a true freshmen QB against B1G. Daunting task.

I watched the whole game, and both IU quarterbacks looked good. A lot of play calls were bubble screens or slants--quick reads--to help keep the game manageable. Still, neither quarterback threw anything close to an interception, and each looked comfortable. I can't really fault the offense, not when it puts up 558 yards total and scores 39 points.

The defense was, as usual, mortifying. I can see real progress in the team's play from last year, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Yet the defense continues to be painful to watch; allowing big plays, multiple penalties, and no pressure on the quarterback will doom IU each and every time.

In addition, IU lost the field position battle all night long. When Ball State starts nearly at midfield and IU starts at their own 15 repeatedly, it's a bad sign.

I really wish they would've hired a defensive minded coach to come in to B-town and instill the mentality that NOBODY runs against us.

As I said at the time, looks like they're trying to lose 44-40.

I meant losing to Wisconsin 44-40. Not a MAC school (although one that looks very good, but still...)

Kind of like Sparty did with Dantonio? I know he was a head coach at Cincy when they hired him, but he's a defensive minded guy at a school that is basketball first and relatively difficult to recruit to.

So Landon Turner's going into the IU HOF, think that gets Knight back on campus?

No. Nothing will. Knight wouldn't even go back for his own HOF induction ceremony. IU has reached out to Knight plenty of times and he tells them to screw off every time. The refusal to come back for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony three years ago should have been the last straw for the university. I hope they never ask him back again.

I don't care. I'm just happy Landon is being recognized. Those of us that remember him as a player know exactly why... he was going to be special as he finished growing into his body. Better than Isiah, who was a legit Naismith Hall of Fame player.

That the 1983 team was preseason #1 and Big Ten champions without the two studs that should have been seniors (Zeke and Landon) AND with Kitchell missing the last several weeks of the season tells you just how good IU was in that era.

The coolest thing about Landon is that through all of what has happened over the past 5-6 years, not a single former Hoosier, has had a more constant presence than him, whether at games, practices or just around campus. And yes I am including Calbert Cheaney in this. Landon has been a fixture at IU for as long as I can remember, and starting with my junior year, Crean's first year as coach, Landon's impact became even more. A true class act and IMO he is the definition of Indiana basketball.

    Oops.

Ron Patterson's prep coach slips a little in this Indy Star article.

    http://blogs.indystar.com/recruiting...ron-patterson/

So far, so good for Ron Patterson at his new East Coast home.

Former Broad Ripple guard Ron Patterson is starting the recruiting process over in the 2013 class at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

Brewster Academy (N.H.) coach Jason Smith said the former Broad Ripple star and Indiana recruit has impressed the coaches who have been on campus the past two weeks.

“He’s been outstanding,” Smith said of the 6-3 guard. “The consensus from the coaches has been that you might as well hand Indiana the national championship right now if they have 13 guys better than him.”

doesn't he mean "13 guys smarter than him?"
    ahem.

The coach is clearly not the brightest bulb in the box to even suggest that Patterson was cut because IU has 13 players better than him. Ron's issue isn't talent.

He may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but that is the way this situation is viewed by 99.9% of outsiders--that Ron was the victim of a scholarship crunch and that the grades were a convenient excuse to get rid of him.

I'm not saying I believe it--I'm just saying that's how other people interpret the situation. I personally think RP shot himself in the foot with his grades. However, if we did not have a scholarship crunch, I suspect he would still be on the team.

Apparently 4 Star Recruit Troy Williams might come to Hoosier Hysteria. Guess hes buds with Anya and Robinson. Still odd he would visit even though he doesn't have an offer from us and yet hes willing to come out to Hoosier Hysteria.
