Think that was Hollowell
Think that was Hollowell
What a blitz for the last 20 minutes... I'm a bit stunned, and my guys are winning. Imagine how UNC feels.
Oh look, there's Watford.
Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
This is incredible. Even though it's at home it's still really impressive.
UNC quit on this game.
***** Wat, what is wrong with you
UNC didn't quit, IU broke them
A few stray thoughts:
Hulls epitomizes Indiana basketball. He's the leader championship teams have to have. It's his team.
Zeller finally had a National POY game. He did what he does. I have never, ever seen a big man run the floor like him.
The defense was solid all night. It will get overshadowed by the offensive explosion, but man we didn't give them an inch.
Hollowell epitomizes "freshman" -- he will need time.
Sheehey also had a coming out party tonight. If he hits those corner threes this year consistently we are going to be brutal to defend against.
Yogi is the playmaker and missing piece that this team needed. His shooting needs some work though.
Watford is playing selfish basketball. If he keeps that up Crean is going to keep benching him, and rightfully so.
Crean tightened things up tonight. I finally felt like he was not experimenting with lineups a ton.
We are really, really ****ing good.
Here are my thoughts from the game:
1.) Crowd was ridiculous.
2.) Maybe Wat's worst game offensively in his career, but he really good defensively in the second half. McAdoo didn't do anything when he was up against Wat...so there's that. Although I think McAdoo is widely overrated.
3.) Hulls is an All American IMO if the season ended right now. We have the best group of backcourt players in the country, I mean our PG rotation of Yogi, Hulls, Remy is just sick. You toss in Vic and Sheehey and it's just not fair.
4.) If I was a UNC fan I would be furious right now, that has to be the laziest team I've seen so far this season, I know Cody runs the court well, but UNC has a ton of athletes, how do you let him out run you every single time? 4 easy buckets in the first half off just laziness from the UNC and then the hammer came down and you just saw them get lazy on offense too, settling for turn around and mid range Js every time. I've always wondered about Roy Williams, the guy rolls around in McDonald's all americans, and I just wonder if he's not the coach he's cracked up to be.
5.) I think that sickness must have really hit Cody hard, also I felt like this was the first time Crean really held the pedal down offensively. Cody and Vic seemed to be taking off much quicker in the break. Yogi's ability to set the pace of a game is amazing. He keeps the ball on a string and the game absolutely flows how he wants it to.
You're right that McAdoo is just incredibly overrated, at least at this point. Last year he was rolling with four NBA draft picks, but now it's clear he has a bit of work to do before he's ready to be "the man". He came up small against Butler too.

The last 4 minutes of the first half and the first 16 minutes of the second half were probably the best 20 consecutive minutes of basketball I have seen IU play since about 1993 or so.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)
Thought I would stop by and congratulate you guys on a huge win. I dont think anyone in the NCAA could have beaten IU that night.
While Duke has the better resume. Rankings are about who is the better team, not who has played the better teams. Thats what RPI is for.
And we can't play Duke next year, because both teams are slated to play an away game next year.

But, but, but, Duke is in the ACC...So they're bound to be superior...
"But, first, let us now praise famous moments, because something happened Tuesday night in Indianapolis that you can watch a lifetime’s worth of professional basketball and never see again. There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."
They aren't going to break from the pattern simply for one matchup when they will have plenty of other possibilities. Giving UNC a chance to get revenge next year on their homecourt is just as big a story as IU playing duke.
It's not a pattern. If it were, IU and Duke would have never played in the B1G/ACC Challenge because they are at odds with the home/road thing.
I'm not saying it definitely will happen, but it's got just as good a chance of happening as IU playing UNC again. They always do it by matchups, interest, and of course, ratings. They try to make it as even as possible. Hence the reason IU generally played crappy teams when we were crappy.
