i think we are surely the favorites for this title and we will be on track there is nothing to worry about as its game win and loose situation are there with every team

Well IU is looking like they aren't even trying with Trey Lyles now, didn't go see him and Lyles is starting to shy away from them being favorites. For them to just abandon recruiting like this, something happened. And since I doubt it was something horrible that Crean did, I am guessing its something shady somebody else is doing.

I liked how Lyles was disappointed that IU didn't come to his open gym.

Yeah, I don't think we are a serious player with him anymore. Dakich blasted Trey and his family today on his radio show if anyone heard it.

And honestly who cares, something hasn't felt right about Lyles this whole time. Plus we already have two other top forward recruits for that class that are on our radar. No offense to Trey, but he started out the consensus number 1 in his class two years ago, but he has not really lit up the boards the way some expected him to. I wish it would have worked out, but it just sounds like he may not fit at IU to me.

Yeah could work out for the best. And hell if something shady did go down, hopefully he takes down whichever school it is. Almost certainly Kentucky though

It sounds to me like Dakich knows something. And blow hard as DD may be he generally has proven to have his finger on the pulse of a lot of things.

Isn't Dakich the one that reported Kentucky and others had been contacting him before he reopened his recruitment

I think DD is on to something here. He wouldn't bring it up if he didn't think it was true.

So, looking forward to IU-Ball State game tonight. Saw the opener. Saw nothing of UMass game last week. What did anyone think of Coffman in relief with a big lead? I'm assuming the Roberson injury is a death knell of sorts. Of course, I was only hoping for a few more wins than last year anyway. Is that untenable with Coffman at the helm of the offense?

You've already got more wins than last year.

I enjoy your snarkiness as much as anyone, but in fairness, he did say a few more wins than last year.

Honestly, anyone would have looked good against UMass. That is one of the worst teams I have watched in major college football. Coffman handled himself well, and I think he can lead us to a win or two if we play our cards right. Losing Roberson, at least in terms of total wins, won't really hurt IU that much. We were probably never going to win more than 3, maybe 4 games at most with him, and I don't think that changes with Coffman at the helm.

I honestly didn't even notice that. I should pay more attention to what I'm reading.

I suppose I thought we had a chance at 4 with Roberson. Now I'm not sure we'll advance beyond the 2 wins we've got.

Oh we CAN beat Ball State for sure tonight. Not sure if we will. And Navy just looks flat out pathetic, we have a shot to beat them. Would be nice to steal one in the Big Ten, but I doubt it. So I would say 3 is a real shot.

Yeah...he ran wild on the Hoosiers. Let's temper our NFL expectations.
Shakir Bell ran for 349 yards today. I don't care who you're running against, that's a TON of yards.

Coffman's not sexy, but he looks very competent. Giving the guy credit so far. Fun game to watch.

Yes. Yes it is. He's legit. I posted a follow-up in this thread a few posts after that one about him.

If Ball State blows us out just go ahead and fire Wilson.

Here's a great "what if" scenario: What if Terry Hoeppner had not died? He had this program moving forward and built real enthusiasm. He was a really good coach. The Lynch/Wilson eras have left much to be desired. I would be surprised if Wilson lasted more than 4 seasons here, honestly. He's a hothead and I haven't seen a whole lot of inspired coaching out of him or his staff.
