Do you have a source for this? Grigson and Polian? I mean Grigson makes sense but there is a Polian connection I'm not aware of?

Burke did not provide much detail about how the national search would be conducted, though he did say Colts general manager Ryan Grigson, Texans GM Rick Smith and Colts ex-vice chairman Bill Polian would advise him.

I think about the only value I'd give to Polian's opinion is in making sure my own decision is 180deg opposite of Polian's opinion.

Right, Bill Polian knows nothing about football. The hatred so many have for Bill Polian makes no sense at all.

Smith and Grigson are alums, I can't remember verbatim but at the presser Burke said something along the lines of he and Polian "having a good relationship" from his time with the Colts, something like that. I assume during Polian's time scouting, pro days, that stuff. Pretty sure Polian helped Ball State "find" Lembo.

GBI says Dave Doeren's out. No word on if Burke didn't think he was a fit or if Doeren said no.

Didn't realize it until now but Penn State beat Bucknell over the weekend. Without Tim Frazier.

Bill Polian is one arrogant human being. His arrogance, along with an end of career question mark about his decision making process, is plenty to not trust his opinion currently.

His real talent might be in being the front office version of Phil Jackson in the NFL.

If they hire Brock Spack, I will quit being a Purdue football fan for the 3-4 years it takes them to fire him.

Only way they hire BS is if basically EVERYONE else says no. I'm a fan of Spack's adoration of the program, just as I am Hopes, but no damn way. I don't really know who I want, Sonny Dykes is intriguing, I like Kliff Kingsbury from a lighting in a bottle could be great view, Butch Jones would be very good with some reservations about him just coaching Brian Kelly's players every step of the way but I'm very happy he's allegedly in the discussion since he made more at freakin Cincinnatti than Hope did at Purdue.

Don't know who I want, but it's pretty clearly the most important hire of Burke's career and it's going to be his lasting legacy.

IMO the ship sailed 4 years ago in regards to Spack. If we didn't hire him then (when it actually made a lot of sense), no way we do it now when we need to make a splash.

There's been a lot of talk that we're going to hire a "big name" to try to get the fan base invested again. Obviously, I'm expecting that means we'll get some MAC coach I've never heard of.

Doesn't Jones have a $1.4 million buyout? That would seem to take the Boilers out of the running.

Milton Jennings from Clemson got busted for weed and is suspended tonight. He's their leading scorer, that'll help.

Saw that. Certainly not encouraging. Bad source I hope. Also apparently looking at current NFL coaches.

Now Clemson's Devin Booker has a "family matter" and may not play. Him and Jennings are Clemson's 2 best players. He's out too and we still lose we got problems.

I don't know about hitting a player, but he is the big fat dude. Had all kinds of character problems. Find it hard to believe they've actually talked to him, but one of the BTN guys tweeted it.
