this ****'s falling through. Morgan Burke can't close. No coffee for that dickhead.
not really fair to call it "falling through" ... everyone just got excited that b/c a blog trolling for hits called it done "in principle" based upon one tweet (when there was conflicting info all over the place)

so now a bunch more outlets are saying Hazell HAS been hired. CBS, ESPN, SI, real outlets.

    I don't know what the hell's happening.

Judging by the amount of major news sources reporting the hire, I'd trust it.

Though if the contract's not signed, Hazell's got a lot of negotiating power right now.

I think the question we are all asking is, "does Hazzell make Painter take Bade back?"

Good for Hazell and good for Purdue. I'm not a Purdue fan but I do like that hire.

J & C headline: "Boilers pound Lamar inside for 72-39 victory"
    that is funny to me.

Cleveland Plain Dealer says his contract's $2 mil a year for 5 years, fully guaranteed. That's a lot of money for Burke to guarantee. It's more than double what Hope made and put Purdue right in the middle of the conference pack with Dantonio making 1.9 and O'Brien making 2.3.

It's not fair to call Burke cheap anymore. Not with coaches anyway.

^ Hope did get some bang for the buck if you will.

    analogy question

    6-6 : $900,000 = ? : $2 million.
is 7-5 good enough for 2x the salary? 8-4?

Hopefully we do better, but it depends on other factors than just record as well, Burke wants to put butts in seats, and I believe increase our instate reputation especially as far as recruiting, ofcourse winning will help that, but I think if we could be a team that competes on a high level and is consistently 8-4 or above that will be pretty decent. I would like something closer to 10-2 with only loses coming from teams like OSU and PSU, but after all it is football and anything can happen.

In summation I think hoovering around 9 wins and occasionally making a decent bowl game would be enough to justify the salary.

CB Leroy Clark becomes Hazell's first Purdue commit. ESPN's got him as 4 star, Rivals a 3. Miami kid with a ton of high major offers, including Florida and Oklahoma.

I'm pretty damn pumped about Hazell. I don't think he'll be here for long, and that's a good thing.

this is starting to get embarrassing. painter is starting to actively **** me off with these results. at least with hope we weren't wildly overpaying him.

edit: how bad it is, someone on the rivals board says we should have kept John Hart to play a major role this year, and he is absolutely right.

They'll win a few, but going winless in conference really wouldn't surprise me. I knew it'd be an up and down year, but they're just bad and not showing many signs of improvement. Painter's got to sit Byrd, it's a "teaching year" anyway, play Davis more. Stephens'll help next year but even then, unless someone drastically improves, they won't have but one shooter.

glad I'm not the most pessimistic one here. that said, i think ive only see one game this year, so maybe they ARE that bad. obviously you can't fire painter (for many reasons, including it would be too expensive and there is no obvious replacement) but 0-16 would put burke in an interesting position.

Eh there is a potential there with Hammons in the middle. Your guard play is just too inconsistent. No way you go winless though, you will have those games where the shooters get hot and you'll win.

Byrd is just kind of in the way IMO, not really sure what he offers you other than blocking a younger guy from minutes and touches.

Watching how good Butler is with what I assume are two and three stars (they have multiple players that can shoot the basketball--is that allowed?) makes Purdue's recent performance that much more embarrassing. Butler is certainly not at any institutional advantage over Purdue in any sense (hell, their assistants might even have to drive economy cars when recruiting!). Any excuses for Painter/Purdue sound lame, seeing what Butler has done/is doing.

edit: wow they have a dude that shoots 97% FTs.

So glad Butler won. Definitely disappointing that we are performing like Butler is.
