Yeah I really like Hammons. He looks slimmer than he was in high school. He's going to be a solid, solid four year player for you guys as long as he keeps himself in shape.

I have no malice toward Byrd at all, but I kind of wish he'd go the way of Barlow. This season is not really about wins and losses anyway, and I'd rather see Davis get his minutes.

Poor Danny Hope...Our 38-14 loss to Wisconsin isn't looking that bad now, either...

I like Taggert... not sure he will be a instant success, but I think he will be really good after a couple of years, but I doubt he would stay at Purdue and end up jetting after becoming successful.

OK State opens as 14 1/2 point favorites. That's line's going to increase.

Hope's not coaching, might be worth taking the points.

When I heard what bowl we were going to, I thought, "Hell this season sucked, but at least Hope got fired, and this will be a good chance to see Jerry World for the first time."

Turns out, The Heart of Dallas Bowl is at the ****ing Cotton Bowl. "Hell, this season just sucked." No way I am spending a dime to go to this one, although I am still pleased that Hope got fired.

If Butch Jones goes to Colorado it's frankly embarrassing.

^eh, not that much...CU is as good a job as Purdue in the long term, and there is probably less pressure to win short-term. Some might even say Boulder is a nicer place to live than WL

I had a friend that was being recruited by Purdue. He ended up going to Colorado. Rick Neuheisel had just taken over the program and got him to come out for a visit. Once he visited, he told me it was no contest. Once he saw the stadium and the campus and the town, he said he could never go back to Lafayette to live. He's still out there today 17 years later. I would imagine that as long as the money is relatively close to what Purdue offered, Jones probably feels the same way.

Jeff Washburn's Twitter feed the last few hours is pretty depressing. He's talking about all the stuff I've had a problem with in the athletic department and mentioned at times but obviously with much more first hand knowledge and better worded. I have my gripes with Burke, but I admire what he's been able to do on shoestring (Big Ten wise) budgets, he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. The biggest problem of all is the fanbase really, it's just too small and too stuck in their ways. There needs to be a complete culture shift, maybe Daniels'll bring that (though I doubt it). It's just too conservative a school, not politically (thought that too), but just in their overall approach. They're like the Grandpa who's the last one of his generation left that comes over for Thanksgiving and can't relate to all the young whippersnappers.

This was in no way a dig at Purdue or WestLala either--I would have said the same thing about Bloomington. From everything I've heard/read/seen Boulder is a beautiful place and that campus is gorgeous.

Yeah, I think that would me my next choice, possibly even before Taggert when I think about it... He seems more likely to stay around longer after success I would think.

I wonder how long this will take for anything to become official

Can't say I'm surprised to see him attached to bigger schools already.

Nothing official, but plenty of "waiting for terms to be agreed to" rumors." I know he was at OSU under Tressel for I think 6 years with stops as an offensive position coach all over the Midwest/East Coast leading up to that. Obviously had Kent State, which is, no offense intended, but a pretty bad football program a few plays away from a BCS bowl. Seems to be a guy his players love (not unlike Danny Hope), real program builder which is what I think Purdue definitely needs. Apparently he's got connections all over Ohio, which is obviously a recruiting powerhouse.

What else can you tell me about him? Gameplanning style? Ways he disciplines players?

I don't want to get ahead of myself, we remember Matt Painter to Mizzou which was a "done deal," but the tealeaves are definitely there and I gotta say I'm pretty excited about it.

We only had him for two years, so gameplan is a little tough to be certain about. He certainly loved the run game this season, but I think a lot of that had to do with Durham(ground and pound at almost 5ypc) and Archer(9.7 ypc, returned kicks and was also our leading reciever from the slot). We had great run blocking but I thought our pass blocking could be exposed pretty easily(which you could see in the MCG). However, our QB Spencer Keith broke the school record for career passing yards. Through three phases he likes a steady, mistake free offense, a swarming, big play chasing defense(led the nation this year in turnovers forced and turnover margin), and taking chances on special teams.

While his players really seemed to rally behind him(as did the fans, which is almost impossible at Kent) there was thing that bothered me about his motivational technique. He jerked Keith around a lot. He wouldn't name him the definitive starting QB until about week 6, despite the backup not showing much in the time he was force fed. Maybe he was just trying to light a fire under a complacent four year starter, but I thought it was a little too dramatic.

In all, I'm really gonna miss him. We've had a great sports year and he was a huge part of it. We went to the College World Series, the Championship Game in football, and our Bball team is poised for another 20 win season with tourney aspirations. I thought this was a year where we had the opportunity to become a powerhouse in the MAC, but with Darrel leaving and a lot of our starters graduating there's a great chance we've already lost a lot of momentum.

Really kind of ridiculous now, maybe Taggert is still an option... if not I guess Dykes, if not, Spack will be our last effort... wow not really good...
