Yeah, the Mangino stuff's BS. The same guy, Tom Dienhart, is talking about Jim Caldwell now. Just throwing crap against the wall hoping one sticks.
Purdue's female student body sure as hell dodged a bullet on Michael Dixon. What a scumbag.
The next Brian Kelly? At least this guy has shown a willingness to recruit the state of Indiana, which Hope never did.
Are you guys concerned at all about how small his recruiting past is though?
I can't think of better alternative given the situation. Seems like a good hire on the surface if it happens.
"I had to take her down like Chris Brown."
I don't like the name "Butch," to be honest.
Hope did, but didn't really get the guys he was targeting, he probably would have been able to get more guys if he targeted ones other than just the top tier, like some of those who are heading to Cincy.
Also, Purdue historically does not get too many instate guys, well since I was there large portions of the team were made up of guys from Floriday and Texas, with some Indiana folks squeezed in there.

Also it is funny how the title says Purdue offers football job... then in the first sentence it says he has not received a firm offer, lol really...
Why so SERIOUS
GBI says Purdue's been in touch with Willie Taggart from Western Kentucky. I've seen his name mentioned in "up and comer" type articles but honestly don't know much about him. Record's not too inspiring though.
I think bowls are a dying concept. First a 4 team tourney, and I don't think an 8 team will be far behind. That is where the most money can be made.

I've watched most of this Xavier-Purdue game today. Couple thoughts:
Purdue won't be very good this year--I'd be surprised if they went dancing come March, but they have some hope for the future. I like their freshman class--particularly AJ Hammons and Ronnie Johnson. Once those guys are juniors/seniors leading this team they could be very good. I can't ever root for Purdue, but I think it would be cool if IU and Purdue could be good at the same time. The rivalry is so much more fun when the games mean something. Last season wasn't bad, but the few years before that Purdue was clearly a step (or three) ahead of IU and this year I think IU is a much better team.
Purdue just doesn't have an identity right now. When you're relying on DJ Byrd to make 5 or 6 threes a game to win, it's not going to work out well. A lot of their big guys try hard, but are not skilled, just have to continue force feeding minutes to Hammons.
Is what it is, gonna be an up and down year. There's improvement from Hammons almost game to game, he's fairly far along in his development, much more than I thought, but he's just pretty soft. Needs to get a fire lit under him, all the cliches.
There's no way Byrd should've been in the last 4 minutes or so of the game though. I know the team's really young and Byrd's a senior and all that but it was clear early on he didn't have it today. If you want to play him at least tell him to stop gunning. That Christon kid for Xavier's the new Tu Holloway, kid was next to unstoppable during that big 2nd half run.
Gonna be nice having Kendall Stephens next year, a kid that's an actual sniper. I hope anyway.
not to be morbid, but I am already readying myself for AJH blowing out his knee, seeing as he is the only positive sign this year and this is Purdue.
Hale should've played a lot more too, kid had a great game.
