I was pretty upset with the defense in the 1st quarter. Now...not so much.

The Purdue on the front is outlined in black now, it wasn't last year. Looks better, more even. Still not a fan of the cowcatcher design though, the whole uniform in general really. Be glad when they change it. And when Nike starts letting us wear actual gold again and not this washed out watercolor thing.

It could be worse: You could be an Adidas school.

I'm not sure what a "cowcatcher" design is, but if it is the letters in the middle being bigger than the rest of them, I don't like it either. I also think your uniforms would be better served by having the old gold as opposed to this lighter color as well. The lighter color, even with the black outline, is difficult to read against the white uniforms.

Yeah, the cowcatcher is the Purdue lettering, it's the big grill type thing on the front of trains. In theory it sounds like it might be kind of cool, but I just don't like it at all but at least the outline'll make it legible. Need to switch it back to the non-serif block letters.

This is the biggest game in recent Purdue football history. Win this and they may be front runners to represent the Leaders divison in the Big Ten Champ game. Lose and this season is dangerously close to being a failure. This is must win. Hope is coaching for his job on this one. He loses this game, with the BTCG on a platter, for the taking. No way he's brought back next year. This is a monster game. This is a radar game. They win this, they're on everyones radar.

side note: Edison is having an amazing season. He's been so good. Such a game changer. Reminds me of Percy Harvin at Florida. This whole offense reminds me of that Florida offense minus Tebow though. Which is a huge minus.

Oh, please. Flag football teams on IU's campus are far superior to the actual football team. Give us some credit.

What is the status of Hope's contract? Did he not receive an extension recently?

I wouldn't over-hype it, even if it is fun to do. The Big10 is so flawed that a division championship is within reach even with 2 conference losses. And winning won't do all that much for our national perception, since everyone thinks the Big10 (and Michigan) is so weak anyway.

Anyway, we have a good a chance to win the Big10 as anyone. RBs/WRs/CBs can win it for us, in any given game, but LBs, QB, and Kicking could lose any given game for us.

Hope will be back either way. His recruiting is perceived to be too good.

There is a faint heartbeat, but the only way Purdue gets back into this is if Michigan coughs the ball up again (and again.)

The problem is that Terbush is so relentlessly mediocre, even when he isn't making mistakes. No playmaking ability. When's he routinely throwing pick-sixes, we've got no chance against anything resembling a football team.

^ Like I said. One-legged Marve is outplaying him. Damn Hope is a lame in-game coach.

Not sure why I'm still watching this. It's probably masochism. Marve is taking some solid hits, would hate to see him get injured yet again.

edit: great post from the rivals board: "Give coach time. He is a great recruiter. He has only been here 4 years and his best QB is a one-legged 6 year guy."

A friend of mine, who grew up in Connersville with me but is inexplicably a Michigan fan, came to visit me in Lafayette this weekend. We took the opportunity to attend the Purdue/Michigan game yesterday. I had no rooting interest in the game myself. We had pretty good seats, so we were able to see Denard Robinson run about everywhere and the Purdue offense go almost nowhere. The Purdue offense was out of sorts from the start. Purdue seemed to have trouble with the fundamentals all-around. Even the Purdue crowd's "IU Sucks" chant was anemic. (It's so weird being an IU fan in Purdue territory.) Anyway, my friend and the large number of Michigan fans in attendance were quite pleased with the outcome.

I don't understand where this perception came from for Purdue fans, you guys still had to go to Ohio State and had Wisconsin the next week. I think you guys were a little ahead of yourself as was the media to be suggesting Big Ten Champ game births at 3-1 and with no games played in conference yet.

While I agree with you that people were somewhat overly optimistic essentially due to playing Notre Dame tight, Ohio State can't advance to Indianapolis. The only teams in the Leaders who can play in the title game are Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. And Illinois and Indiana are beyond dreadful. Ohio State and Penn State are both prohibited. The odds weren't terrible for Purdue. Really, they still aren't. Wisconsin looks better than Purdue but they don't look like world beaters. If Purdue sneaks a win against them, as they've been known to win games they shouldn't in the Hope era (unfortunately the opposite is true also), they've still got a pretty good shot to get the chance to get blown out at Lucas Oil.

thanks for clearing that up, jagoff.

no, but seriously: you can only go so far with a QB that can throw maybe 20 yards.

OSU is going to kill us. Miller is like Robinson only huge. I can't believe what they did to Nebraska's D.
