Default Luck, He's Getting An Insane Amount Of Praise

He's looked great, no doubt, I just hope people don't expect to much to soon. I'm getting worried people will expect Luck to lead us to the Super Bowl, this season.

Jaworski on ESPN said he is the best prepared QB prospect for the NFL... EVER. Think about that, EVER. Dikta was absolutely gushing over him.

It's nice to hear good things about your favorite teams players, but this is getting scary.

I'm sure OlBlu will be by shortly to put a damper on things. OlBlu, please hit alt-f4

After the first two pre-season games, my expectations for this season have risen to unheard of levels. I am now expecting at least an appearance in the AFC championship game. I cannot and will not lower my expectations

Because he's an insane amount of awesome.

I am not. This isn't the NBA we are talking about, this is the NFL where teams come out of nowhere and do serious damage in the playoffs. Who are the AFC powerhouses? After New England, who else is there?

I'm sure he's going to be great, but to use preseason games to judge a player is IMO a huge mistake

OK, that is my Colts post for the year.

Luck never has been my concern with this team. QB went from crippling weakness to moderate strength. The defense is in flux, and the offensive line is a patchwork unit. I wouldn't be blown away by a playoff berth, but expecting them to get one? Erm, no. Expecting anything more than that? Erm, no.

I don't know if this is going to make sense to anyone else, but on a scale of OlBlu to Pacersgeek, I'm at about a Kid Minneapolis in terms of my win/loss projection for the Colts.

Luck is going to be good, I don't think anybody doubts that. The problem this year is going to be the defense and possibly receivers/oline. The defense just doesn't have the right personnel to make the 3-4 work, and our secondary has to be one of the worst I've ever seen in the NFL. It will take a couple years before it possibly becomes good. The o-line I'm not quite sure about right now. To my surprise, it's actually played decent so far. If it can hold up even a little, Luck will have more than enough time to throw. But I'm not sure who he will be throwing to, as I expect Collie not to play very much or at all. Those are the big issues that will prevent us from winning more than 5-6 games this year. I think a lot of this gets better next year.

Ummm Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Denver (won a playoff game with Tebow, should do better with Peyton), Houston is still the favorite for the division, Cincinnati was pretty good last year.

Luck is one of the best QB prospects of all time. But you need more. The Colts will be better than people think, but won't be playoff bound, let alone Super Bowl contenders.

But, amazingly, they haven't been half-bad so far.

    Baltimore- Colts own Baltimore
Pittsburgh- Colts out-classed them in pre-season and should've beat them last year
Denver-only the Manning worshippers think they are a contender
Cincinnati-not bad, but definately not a contender
Houston- we own them as well.

sorry but NE is the only team that really scares me in the AFC.

You do realize we are playing with an almost entirely new team, with a different system on defense (that doesn't really fit our two of our three best defenders), right? We owned those teams with a completely different set of players. I think we'll be significantly better (6-10ish) but not a playoff team.

He should be getting praise, he has looked great, albeit the preseason. What I like the best about Luck is the way he responds to making a mistake, saw it with him at Stanford as well as the last preseason game. He has a great ability to refocus and come back strong. His passes are laser sharp, just love the kid. That being said, expectations are low for this season, but in seasons to come he will push the Colts back to the top IMO.

I do realize that we have a new team, but the defense looks slightly above average, which got us 12 wins almosy every year the past decade. We aren't going to have a bad defense, but a mediocre one that will get stops when it needs to. What we do have this year, which was missing last season, is an explosive offense lead by a rookie phenomn. To assist Andrew, we still have Reggie Wayne, Donald Brown, and several promising rookies on offense. Just because the "experts" say that our team lacks talent, it doesn't mean that they are correct.

I think privately Kid Minneapolis agrees with me, and wants to believe the Colts are legit this year. Publically, specifically on PD, Kid wants to be conservative with his predictions

the moment you sited owning Pittsburgh in the preseason as a reason why the Colts will be so good is the moment you lose me. Ya know, the Detroit Lions went 4-0 in the preseason the year they went 0-16.

    The anti OlBlu

**Edit** Pacergeek, if the Colts make it to the AFC championship game this year, I will take you to Ruth Chris and buy you a steak. If you've never been there, I generally spend $100 on me, plus whatever my gf orders. So it's not cheap. That's how certain I am it won't happen, but if it does then I win too. An excuse to go to my favorite place, and on top of that the Colts are 3 times the team I thought they were.

I think 5-7 is safe, with the extremes being 2 and 10. I don't think a playoff berth is likely but also not out of the question. Just never know how everything shakes out, some teams won't be as good as you think, while others will exceed expectations. I do feel pretty safe saying however that they won't be in the Super Bowl, and they also won't be as bad as OlBlu thinks.

I think we're a legit football team this year, but a playoff berth or even a deep playoff run is probly not in the cards. But I do think within 1-2 seasons from now, we'll be making some noise in the playoffs. I hate to be middle of the road, but that's probly about where we're looking at this year.... .500 or so, if we're lucky. This year is not about a deep playoff run, it's about getting our new/young guys some experience and building a foundation and identity.

But from what I've seen so far, there's good energy, the coaching staff looks to be a worthy one, we have some serious young talent on the offensive side... Hell, Luck has scored touchdowns on 5 of his 10 drives. That's ridiculous. He's scored about 50 points in what equates to about 3/4 of a full football game. I don't think scoring is going to be an issue. I still stand by the claim we just landed the LeBron James of the NFL, but we gotta let him reach his enormous potential first.
