Thread: IMO, the Pacer's can beat ATL this season.

Default IMO, the Pacer's can beat ATL this season.

I think the Pacer’s can beat Atlanta. One win for Atlanta sometime, but the rest to Indiana. Which is a good thing as ATL has owned the B%G.

Atlanta has 12 guys right now, so they will probably add one or two. But here are the guys that are on the team right now.

    Josh Smith
    Al Horford
    Devin Harris
    Zaza Pechulia
    Kyle Korver
    Louis Williams
    Anthony Morrow
    Johan Petro
    Jeff Teague
    DeShawn Stevenson
    John Jenkins
    Jordan Williams

Which seems to mean their rotation should look something like this. At least the 8 guys that will be doing most of the heavy lifting.

    PG – Harris/Teague
    SG – someone/Williams
    SF – Morrow ???
    PF – Smith
    C – Horford/Zaza???

Defensively, Josh Smith will be a problem. But pretty much everyone else can be defended by their guy.

Offensively, Morrow might slow Danny down a bit, but probably not. DeShawne can defend Paul George or whoever, but that means he has to play both ends. That just makes it easier defend ATL.

After all the many years of ATL owning the Pacers it’s gonna be nice to win some games for a change.

Atlanta is going through a complete rebuild so I would hope the Pacers would finish ahead of them. Atlanta may struggle to make the playoffs. I am more concerned about the teams that improved and I am less than convinced the Pacers can beat like Miami, Boston, both, NY teams and Philadelphia.......

It should a lot easier for Danny to score against them this year because they shipped Joe Johnson to Brooklyn. Still Anthony Morrow might pose as a road-block.

Seems like a bizarre thread. I am sure we will beat Atlanta, just like a lot of other teams.

I actually am one of the few people who feel like Atlanta didn't really lose all that much. Josh Smith has already kind of taken over as the go-to guy on that team and Joe Johnson wasn't worth what they were paying him. I feel like Lou Williams could make up for a lot of what they lost with Johnson. I hope we can finally dominate them this year though.

So...can we expect 27 more threads like this?

Atlanta, did we beat them in attendance last year?

Their fan-base has to one of the lowest in the league.

I'm with you, assuming Horford comes back strong. Atlanta was a great team with JJ and while not quite as good...they still qualify as a threat to the Pacers.

...but I also agree we have our hands full with Philly and other teams. I will say it may be easier with Dwight in LA though if we are talkiing Orlando. All things considered, I think the battles are going to be really good in the east this coming year.

I remember at least 1 game where we beat them last year, didn't we have a winning % against them last year?
Anyway, we should be able to beat them this year, yeah... but Atlanta aren't really all that great

JJ was certainly overpaid. Nonetheless, he is a big time gamer. They will definitely miss him.

Josh Smith is erratic and not the proven day in day out scorer that JJ is. I am a fan of Lou Williams but he isn't the end of game closer Joe Johnson has become.

Atlanta will be worse than last year, but we were already becoming better than them last year.

I am going to go on record and say that Teague will start by the end of the season. I will also go on record and say that if they are struggling early, Josh Smith will demand a trade. I will finish this prediction. He will go to Dallas for Mayo and Marion.

Oh I know they got worse, I'm just saying I don't think they will be some pushovers like a lot of people seem to think.

Atlanta, with their current roster, is still a dangerous team. Smith, Horford, and Teague are good enough to make the playoffs in the east

ATL has always given the Pacers fits. I think we got them beat this year.

I just checked, they were 23rd, Pacers 29th.

New question: Can we beat the Hawks in attendance this year?

That's not exactly fair. Atlanta may be a fairly large city (double the size of Indy), but the majority of people in Atlanta are actually from other states...who already have their team. I'm in Atlanta, but I'm from Indiana, so I'm def part of that group. I root for my Pacers and will only go to a Hawks game if I get tickets for free of if the Pacers are in town.

Add to that the south mostly seems to care about college football and only college football. Meh. I went to IU, so I never got into college football...gimme basketball!

What makes the Knicks, Nets, and Sixers better than the Pacers? You do realize that even Las Vegas betting odds has the Pacers odds of coming out of the East higher than these three, right? And even ESPN, the master of picking the bigger markets to beat the smaller markets, has the Pacers as third in the East. Can you give your logic as to how these teams are better than the Pacers?

Should I make a thread proclaiming the Pacers can beat Charlotte this year, or is that going too far out on a limb?
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Yeah, I am also wondering why Atlanta was chosen. I would like to discuss the three teams who are in are way (Miami, Boston, and Chicago). Those are the three we have to worry about. Not Atlanta, Philly, New York, or Brooklyn.

Atlanta is the team that the Pacers are most often compared to in terms of the steps they have made and where they might fall in the conference. Atlanta has players who match up well against their corresponding Pacer players, with some here believing they are no-brainer better than their Pacers counterparts and some believing it isn't that simple.

Atlanta and Indiana also have a long history of being each others' spoilers, from the 1994 second round on. When Atlanta was down they often gave Indiana fits and vice-versa.

It isn't a bad question to contemplate, really.
