Since it always happens every year, I'll start now.It was Collison last year. Will it be Paul George for not improving? George Hill or Roy Hibbert for not playing up to their contract. Danny Granger for... just being Danny Granger? (I left off Tyler because I'm not sure he'll still be here all of next year)

I think it will be Danny for a lack of leadership skills and maybe a passing of the torch to Roy to be "the man" on our team. I think it will be unfairly done to Danny and that the team will rally around Danny and we will be a closer team because of it.

Danny and Hill'll catch plenty of flak. But it'll be Roy, I have no doubt. He's a "max" player now, I put it in quotes because I still don't think some people realize the difference between his max contract and a real max contract.

And if he doesn't step it up in terms on consistency and becoming a truly dominant weapon the criticisms will be earned.

Totally agree and I hope I'm wrong too. I still don't think George has the work ethic and killer instinct to be a special player in this league. The clock is ticking Paul.

I don't think it's either of those things. I think it's more to do with the fanbase finally having a young kid with outta this world athleticism and a good bit of draft "expert" hype. That's not the fans' fault, it's the "experts'." PG's a good player right now, but these people that projected him to be the next McGrady couldn't have ever watched him play a live game. The ONLY similarity they have is being in terms of build, that's it. I really, really, like Paul George, but if people think he's going to all of a sudden learn to dribble and be anything near a superstar then you've got some REALLY dark blue and gold blinders on these past two years.

This board is relentless with the "Trade Danny now!" talk, so I voted for him.

I don't really think George Hill is going to get a whole lot of criticism, since I believe this will be his first year as a starter. I think he's a better overall defender than Collison, and although not as fast, can make up for that by his shooting, 2 more inches on him...;-)...than Collison has, heavier (barely). I just don't think he's going to be that big of a topic for the Pacers though. Hibbert is going to step up huge this year (my opinion), and I think he'll make another All-Star squad...even if it's the last spot on the team. JUST GIVE HIM THE BALL. So that brings me down to Granger and George. Ultimately I think George's expectations are too high. Not ABSURD, but although my opinion shouldn't and doesn't matter, I feel like he is grilled often with the little experience he has. I don't think we've all personally seen him practice, work-out, and take 100's-1,000's of shots everyday, so let's not say he doesn't have the work ethic. He's not Kwame Brown.

PG. All of the other guys are known quantities compared to him. Even Larry and Frank said that Paul is the guy that needs to take it to the next level this season. I'll be watching everyone in the starting five but, imo, all eyes will be on George.

Does next year start this year or this year start next year?

I selected Roy cause he isn't on his rookie contract any longer, but I think Hill could ultimately take this award this coming season. DC won this award last year without a doubt and Hill is now on the hot seat.

Hill began starting just before the playoffs arrived...how is he on the hot seat already? I'm not disagreeing, I'm really wondering.

I think Tyler should have been on the list, because the volume of criticism he is getting and will get until he is traded (if he is traded) will far outweigh the criticism anyone else will get all year.

Seriously, though, I think Granger will be the new whipping boy as long as Roy either holds his own or continues to be unfed in the post.

Paul George. People will expect him to take over and improve. He will, but not to the expectations. He will never be the McGrady scorer. And that will burn a lot of you. Cause you will realize we won't have a top 10 players on this team.

Because his play at the starting pg position was average and almost everyone here wanted to see a big upgrade at the position this off season and it didn't happen. If Hill slides back to 6th man he may get saved from the bashing DC received, although his contract will still be criticized if this happens. DJ just might save Hill the agony, but I doubt it.
