On "Mike and Mike', Mort says it's a "treatable" form of Leukemia.

Mortensen: Pagano's leukemia is considered "very treatable" but he is in isolation at Indianapolis hospital during this treatment.

A "treatable" form of Leukemia....wow. Everything going so well for sports in this city and state and then this. Talk about a blindside.

    Good grief.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

It's hard for me to be as casual about this as some are being on Twitter. Saying that it's very treatable? I don't know what to make of that, it's still leukemia, and they're still keeping him in the hosptial, I'm guessing to minimize the chance of secondary infection? With me when it comes to leukemia/cancer, it's kind of like OK, it's treatable, but what does that mean?

It's acute promyelocytic leukemia. Reading about the treatments I don't see any way he can continue coaching. This is terrible.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

    Got this from wikipedia:
After stable remission is induced, the standard of care is to undergo 2 years of consolidation chemotherapy with Methotrexate, Mercaptopurine, and ATRA. Nearly all patients will relapse without consolidation therapy.
Take this with a grain of salt right now, of course.

I am very sad to hear this. It makes our little sports talks and arguments seem very trivial indeed. Get well, coach...... ...

Pagano waited his entire life to get a head coaching job in the NFL and he finally got it, only to be diagnosed with an awful illness in his first season. I feel awful for him and his family. The rest of the season will have a numb feel to it.

I didnt even think about this until it was brought up on S.C.

[SIDENOTE: Props to PD and I guess the I.S. for breaking this before ESPN. I was telling my office this news and literally 10 seconds later ESPN broke with "breaking news")

Most coaches probably brush a lot of stuff off as being "worn out" and "tired" from the long days.

No kidding about the bye week coming at the right time this year.

Best wishes for Pagano. We all want to see him come back and coach, but more importantly we just want to see him come back healthy.

As O.B. said a few posts above, puts things into perspective sometimes

It could be a lot worse. Give the boy some vitamin A and send him back home.

Yes, I am having flashbacks to all the times we were told how well Hep was doing before it all went south.
