One game FIBA is " waaay more physical than the NBA," and the next game...this.

I don't care what their rules are. I just wish they knew what they were.
The best way for NBA fans to appreciate NBA refs is to watch ANY other form of basketball (MCBB, WCBB, WNBA, international..)

    PS..WTF was that yesterday ladies..

I'm always amazed by how absurdly athletic the Australians are. Not very many skilled players, but they can all run, and they can all jump. That's a sleeping basketball giant if someone ever got around to coaching them up.

ON a side note, what's Shane Heal doing these days?

LOL you mean Shane Heel? He pissed everybody off, i really liked his intensity. I don't know if you remember Orlando Vega from Puerto Rico, he was the same way.

Massively important game for Lithuania already. If they lose this, they are basically out.

They really miss Javotkas. Even with valanciunas, they look like a small team.

Nigeria is as selfish as Lithuania is slow. Their best passes in this game have all been missed shots.

Looks like Lithuania is in and Nigeria will be out, barring a sizable upset later on.

    Christ.
referee/secretariat performance is nonsensical in this game. the clock didn't run at all for like 20 seconds in the first half, noone even noticed.
2nd half, similar situation, the clock stops during Nigeria's possession, and they take 7 seconds and the ball away from Lithuania on the next possession...
and i'm sure they failed to register two points in the 3rd quarter.

i've never seen anything so silly at this level before.

Brazil is such a waste of talent. they should be medal favorites every time. instead, they are scrambling with outsiders, as always.

Now France - Argentina should be fun.
Both fully capable of medals, but the loser will probably face Russia in the next round, and then the US in the semis if they get so far.

Argentina is taxing their vets too much, too early. Hard to see them getting a medal.

They are an old team. I agree they probably will not have the energy to keep up. They are crafty though.

Craftiness will only take you so far once your legs leave you. They're draining both Manu and scola in the first 3 days, and they still have the US on their schedule before the playoffs.

No matter what happens, France is shaping up better. They are younger and deeper. Parker isn't being relied on too much right now.

the next two games look easy, they should get their rest.
but if Russia gets #2 in the other grp, which they likely will, it will be an extremely tough 1st round for Argentina. they have quickness, size up front, length everywhere, depth. Beating France today would've helped a lot.

Argentina's lack of depth is hurting them. They have not done a good job of developing new talent in their program, and their core group keeps getting older. Losing Oberto has hurt them significancy on the interior and they have no centers in their pipeline.

Heck, pepe Sanchez has been gone for years and they haven't even replaced him yet.

USA should be embarrased atm, Tunisia is playing pretty well but still should be much more of a blowout. I like Doc Rivers analysis at halftime saying these other teams are daring the US to shoot 3's and that's their chance to win.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."
