off topic, but it's not: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C5%ABtas_Park

Baltic states have little to be upset about Lenin and early Soviet symbolic anyway. There's a huge issue with Stalin, WW2 period and occupation, but blaming Lenin for it would be like Midwest native Americans blaming Thomas Jefferson for their fate.

    Well...this game is over.

Still hate the small lineup. I swear coach K wanted a close game. Why else would you pull Chandler and love for basically the whole 4th quarter.

On that note, I feel bad for Argentina on Monday. No way do we take that game for granted.

If coach K wanted to drag the egos back down to earth, at least he got what he wanted. don't like the playing around with close games though.

Yeah, the team was terrible defensively on pick n' rolls once they took Chandler out.

Also, thought Anthony should've been in over Durant late who was getting posted up by Kleiza and couldn't hit anything offensively.

Shot selection has to be better.

I didn't think of it til now, but how crazy will it be if Doug Collins calls a USA-Russia gold medal game?

That'd be an interesting little side storyline. I remember when the Redeem Team won the Gold every one of them went to Collins shortly after they won to hug him. It'd certainly happen again, especially if they beat Russia.

The idea that Ike Diogu is the focal star of any team just blows my mind.

Well some teams are not just as lucky as the US, you got to play who you have.

I'd love to see the Pacers pick up Yi Jian Lian. He'd be a good back up to West. Guy is still Young. Needs some better development. Remember just a couple years ago he was averaging 12-7. I think he would come in and subplant Tyler.

I love his talent. He and Gerald Green were two of my favorite "project" prospects of the past few years. His potential was always off the charts, but for whatever reason he's got Paul George syndrome. You see him make plays that very few at his position could, and then you see him drop a 1 pt, 2 rebound type performance. I think he'd benefit most in an uptempo offense with a distributor point guard (Lin in Houston, Nash in LA, Dragic in Phx, etc), and of course consistent playing time. I think Houston would be a perfect fit for him for several reasons, but PT is the biggest reason I don't think the Pacers should grab him. No point in only giving him garbage time minutes.

I've got to give props to the Lithuanian national squad. I was impressed by their play and I think in this game people are selling them short by not acknowledging that they played smart and given their limitations did really well. I like the US squad as much as the next, but IF they fail to produce good defence consistantly then that is a quality shortcoming that can't be ignored. Hopefully, they will want to prove something the next game, which is pretty likely.

Don't get me wrong, I love his skillset, but what Doug Collins had to say about him concerned me. He talked about how he had the reputation of being very lazy and unmotivated. That right there is a big turnoff to me, despite his ability.

if Lithuania loses this (down 12 right now), and Nigeria beats France somehow, they are in the playoffs.

Honestly I think Lithuania and Tunisia are about even talent wise.

Does Lithuania go for the win here or play to lose by less than 12?

Lithuania by 13. that's a 27 point turnaround in what, 13-15 minutes? can't remember exactly, but pretty remarkable.

Saw Yi against Australia, was less the impressive and wasn't exactly being guarded by a prime Dennis Johnson. Cant see any point in Pacers pursuing him.

"I don't get it. There are FIBA rules, if a player takes the ball and runs two meters, travelling must be called," he said. "Maybe the rules will be changed in the future, but at the moment that's travelling.

"I'm not saying that they [referees] were indulgent towards Americans, or that we lost [the game] due to the referees' fault. Absolutely not. Simply there are rules according which the game must be whistled, it doesn't matter if it's Petrauskas (a common surname in Lithuania) or Kobe Bryant running."

Cabbage was literally whining every trip down the floor. The NBC cameras crew almost made a drinking game out of it.

He should be thanking the FIBA setting. In the NBA, he would have been tossed after 5 minutes.

    Barbosa for the win!
Btw, not even a hint of tanking in this game from either side. did Spain use their timeouts? maybe that's the only thing.

Gosh, I really am loving the no-center lineup. Playing lebron at center and Carmelo at PF is just awesome. Watching Argentina walk in for layups is great strategy. That Tyson Chandler guy was boring me anyway.

I dont fault the players for this. This is all coaching. To sit both love and Chandler down at the same time is inexcusable.

I have to believe this is coach k trying to keep his team grounded. He can't be this dumb.
