How people won't hire the man as a head coach is beyond me (although I thought the Blazers were likely to bring back Canales), but good for us!

Wow. Some teams just don't see the opportunity in front of their noses.

Let's not squander this. Sorry for Brian's career but DAMN glad to keep him on our bench!

Yeah, was there anyone who thought he would be back? I don't understand it. Is he a terrible interview? Is there something we don't know about him that would cause teams to be concerned about giving him control of a locker room?

I was fully expecting him to be a one year rental before he moved up to a head coaching job, and I am fully expecting him to be a 2 year rental now.

If we get him back a third year, I would be absolutely overjoyed and laughing at other NBA teams for their lack of foresight.

Along with the additions of West and Hill, I thought Shaw had as much to do with our turnaround as anyone else. This is great news. We better love him while we still have him, because I doubt he's here after next year.

To me he seems to be lacking charisma and not a great motivator when he talks. Frank on the other hand can make people believe the earth is still flat.

It's great Brian is back. I like to think he is our tactical masterbrain. Much more than Frank.

The fact that he's not a head coach is shocking. At least one more year of Shaw will do wonders for the team.

I think most FOs want someone with either more head coaching experience or someone who has had a specifically defined role on a high-level team. Though Shaw assisted Jackson, I suspect most FOs think every assistant on that staff simply rode on Phil's coattails.

I like Frank, but at some point he will (like nearly all coaches) wear out his welcome. If we were in a position to promote Shaw at that point I'd be less likely to

I feel like there are fewer and fewer people in this world that you can look at and say, "That's a good human being right there." Brian Shaw is one of those few. I'm glad the guys on our team have someone they can look up to.

    MONEY

I'm guessing teams are giving him Low-ball offers. There's a lot of veteran assistant coaches out there and none of them are getting hired. Charlotte went with a relatively unknown college coach and Orlando looks poised to hire a young unknown (to the mass majority) coach as well. Why?

I wonder too, if Shaw feels like he's in a good place and if he leaves it's going to be in an ideal situation, not a Charlotte (although I believe he simply just didn't get that job.) or an Orlando (he pulled out of that one) situation.

He may also be waiting for the inevitable firing of Mike Brown..

Not trying to be a downer but this does not say he is coming back. He's eager to return but thats all it says. If someone gives him an offer he can't refuse... well he may not refuse it. So I won't get excited until a contract with the Pacer's is inked.

With the addition of Steve Nash, that firing is no longer inevitable.

As someone else said I wonder if maybe Shaw is the one being picky about his next move. Given his background maybe he's not in a hurry to take just any coaching job that might come along. Maybe he's just waiting for the right opportunity.

Is there no chance that Brian might not have wanted the jobs with the Magic and Blazers. Neither place is very promising to start a head coaching career and maybe they didn't impress him. He is setting in a pretty good place right now with a very stable team and FO that shows him plenty of respect.

I read a tweet the other day that said Shaw did turn down the Orlando job. Which I think is a smart move.

I think is selective which is good because it keeps him from walking into a bad situation and getting canned two years later.

    Read it and weep:

When George Hill is above 15% usage we won 73.5% of games. Below 15% usage we won 61.9%

Not to over simplify but the hardest head coaching job to get is always your first right?
