    Nostalgia's sake?
Yep. I have always been a Pacers fan, always been an IU fan. Seeing the name "Smits" in the IU program would bring back nostalgic memories for me. Even if he wasn't an impact player, I would always be reminded of the good times his dad had for my beloved Pacers.

i wasn't sure it was him because he seemed to be having such a good time playing.

IU has their pick of top talent right now, so it's hard to imagine Derrik getting much playing time as a Hoosier. Butler would be the best, most logical fit for him IMO.

I don't care which program he goes to as long as it's a program in the great state of Indiana .

Rik was at the Carmel Clay Center at College Ave. & 111th St. today playing ball with a bunch of kids. i wasn't sure it was him because he seemed to be having such a good time playing. I don't know if he volunteers there but he played for a long time, sat and watched kids play for awhile, and generally interacted positively with these kids. These guys were young enough to probably never have seen him play or if they did probably would not have appreciated his game. Nice to see a star player so involved with the community.
Did you think maybe it was just some other random 7-4 Dutch guy?

Edit: sorry Dal9, just now noticed you beat me to the joke.

Hard to tell he was Dutch form that distance and the guy could have just been 6'10" or so. I didn't have my telescopic tape measure with me.
