    Default Lee for Johnson wth?

Courtney Lee was traded for Jujuan Johnson. Wow Johnson only makes 1.1 mil so Courtney really signed cheap. Why couldn't the Pacers sign him for 2 mil? Interesting

Sign and trades do not have to match salaries.

Because the deal's not final. Lee signed for more than that.

Sign and trades have to match within a % unless the Celtics are still under the cap.

The Pacers being over the cap could not have signed Lee for 6 mil and traded him for Hansbrough making 3 mil for example.

Good move for both sides if you ask me. Lee will be a nice piece for Boston and was leaving Houston anyways, and the Rockets get a big with some tools and upside.

They kind of do unless Lee plans to sign for just 2m there are more players in the deal. When you dont have cap room or exceptions to absorb contracts it has to be within 125% salary I believe. There is more to this trade Moore is gonna be in it and another filler to get the salary to around 4 or 5m.

Guess its Johnson , Moore , Sean Williams and a 2nd rounder for him. Gives Rockets around 20 players now more waived players available soon.

Celtics will send E'Twaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson, Sean Williams and 2nd rd pick in Courtney Lee trade. Those 3 won't play today.

    John Hollinger ‏@johnhollinger

Inconceivable that Boston could get Lee in S&T using just Johnson.

Non-guaranteed contracts of Moore, Williams almost certainly involved -- would push Yr 1 salary to ~$4.2M

Not sure if cash involved, but Boston can only put in $1M cash since Houston got paid $2M by Knicks already.

To clarify, the "inconceivable" part is the salary that Lee gets if only Johnson to HOU. Has to be more players in it to pay Lee market rate

Moore and Williams are unguaranteed, so I assume they'll be getting waived. Hopefully Smooge has shown enough to stick, he was solid in spurts last year and had a really nice summer league.

Also, the 2nd rounder is Charlotte's.

Celtics have a pretty nice looking team. They've done well with the backcourt in spite of the loss of Ray Allen.

    Rondo/Terry
    Bradley/Lee
    Pierce/Green
    Bass/Sullinger/Wilcox
    Garnett/Steimsma/Melo

Lee's deal would pay a max of $4.25M in first year and $18.15M overall if its for four years.

    Johnson AND a 2nd rounder.
For a guy they were willing to just let go. Basically, for free.

    Got to love Morey.

Maybe (ok, probably) the 1st pick in the 2nd at that.

Am I the only one who thought we got Lee for Orlando Johnson for a second there? Haha.

I wonder if we have any interest in Moore as a third string PG. If it were me, I would.

Funny or sad that Houston got more for Lee than what we got for DC.

The benefit of trading with a team that is over the cap. Savvy indeed.

Maybe Etwaun gets waived? I'd take him at the end of the bench rather than Barbosa.

Anyone one know if any of the possible cuts would be nice bench fodder?

I like Moore, but I don't think that is a spot that needs filled. I'd rather get a 6'8"+ SF/SG that can play with G2. I still like Corey Brewer in a trade, Denver has like 9 SG's/SF's and don't need him.

    Danny / SF
    Paul / G2 / Lance
    George / DJ / Lance

Courtney Lee deal may be in trouble. Sides trying to keep it alive.
