I think its on ESPN 3, but I'll be posting in this thread periodically. Score is USA 13 GB 10 with 4 minutes left in the 1st. Very physical game so far.

USA up 33 - 20, Carmelo Anthony with 8 straight points to end the quarter on back to back threes and 10 points total since checking in. Was on the floor about 5 minutes.

No big men on the floor, however defensive pressure by the guards and forwards leading to easy transition buckets. Harden, Paul, Westbrook, Iguodala and Carmelo on the floor.

Carmelo off the bench is a little better than Durant.

Thanks for the updates. Keep them coming!

I'm hoping we get to see Anthony Davis for 10-15 minutes today just to see what he can do. GB is really bad, so there's no reason he shouldn't get some experience. We may be in a position later in the Olympics where we need his size to protect the rim. Any experience now while the games don't really matter could be huge later.

They are both matchup nightmares but Melo has a better post game than Durant and is a lot stronger too.

Do you guard him with a PF or SF? You can't put a PF on him because he'll be too quick. You can't put a SF on him because he'll get overpowered in the post. I think that for international play, Carmelo might be Team USA's best player. He can score from anywhere on the floor.

I know he gets a lot of hate on this board but if you need a great scorer, Carmelo is arguably as good as Durant and Kobe and probably better than LeBron.

I agree. Durant's game is more FIBA style and Melo is the instant offense to go along with Westbrook and either Paul or Williams. I think the changes made today were interesting, and that only Durant into the starting lineup will stay. Deron Williams with the reserves seems more likely with Chris Paul being the best point guard IMO.

I've been impressed with Pops on Great Britain. He kept them in the game for most of the first half.

If Team USA can ever get this thing going into a track meet, they'll win by 40. Problem is, there's been a lot of ticky tack fouls which have slowed the tempo down.

Me too. He looked good in the first half and had some great defensive plays and passes.
