I didn't say Barbosa is on par with Stephenson for shooting ability, I said that he can put up shots (from anywhere) and miss with about the same effectiveness as Stephenson. And the stats from last season back me up. He may have made 42.4% of his 3's with us last season, but he shot just under 40% from 2 and overall. You cannot quote a career year for Barbosa that happened 5 years ago with Steve Nash during the prime of Phoenix' dominance as the reason he is better. Lance shot 13% from 3 and shot 37 or 38% overall; I'm okay with that sort of loss for cost.

For a more realistic approach with more detailed reasoning, you should see the post I made that you commented right after.

I hope he is in fact not coming back and our roster is set as it is. I just don't think Barbosa would add much and he wouldn't be worth it, especially since we went and traded for yet another similarly sized 2 guard in the second round.
there is no comparison between the two. Stephenson has done little with the chances given him. Barbosa has done much. At this point it is looking more like Stephenson will continue to do little and fade into basketball obscurity. Barbosa will always be a productive team mate for whomever is smart enough to employ him.

You are correct... Wells made it perfectly clear that it was his gut telling him that Roy was gone. Not a source.
Wells often knows about as much as this board on the inside dirt.

I've been out of the country, and I'm catching up. Will Barbosa be a Pacer or not? I hope so, our bench would be better than our starters were minus Danny Granger during the O'Brien terriny.

Barbosa is not coming back, per Mike Wells.

That is too bad. He had a lot of good moments. Without him I am not sure we would have been able to get the 3 seed.

“Do you think the Pacers will consider signing Barbosa? I think his contribution to last year has been underrated and overlooked.” –Brad

*Barbosa was a solid “regular season” contributor for the Pacers after they acquired him from Toronto in the middle of March. His outgoing personality easily made him a great locker room guy. But he was basically non-existent during the playoffs. Barbosa only shot 37 percent from the field, including 15 percent on 3-pointers in the 11 playoff games.

The Pacers feel like they upgraded the sixth man position when they signed Gerald Green to a three-year deal two weeks ago. Green is younger, more athletic and can be a better scorer than Barbosa. The Pacers have to hope that Green is just as mature as Barbosa.

The Pacers also have Lance Stephenson and Orlando Johnson to go with Green off the bench at the wing position.

I think they'll miss Barbosa more than they realize. He's instant offense when he's on and can carry a team in spurts. Ya, he got killed in the Miami series, but he was really very good at the end of the season. No one they got replicates what he brought. I'm not even really a fan of his, but I do see the things he brought. I guess we will see.

I dont understand hate towards barbosa. face the facts the heat were getitng away with muder hacking and whacking every play. you think its easy to play when the refs are cheating for the other team(heat)
