Default Pacers.com got some new writers

One we all know, and the other a former blogger. Mark Montieth and Scott Agness.

    Here's Montieth's first piece: http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/monti...new-experience
    and Agness's: http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/agnes...ed-opportunity

Don't know anything about Agness but I'm happy to have Montieth. Really good writer and his one on one interviews are awesome.

    Montieth is a good pickup
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

I figure Montieth is good for Pacers.com.
He was already like one when he wrote for Indystar.

    Zing!

I don't know where you are finding any hate, unless its just because no one has said anything praising Agness. If its the bunny with the pancake on its head - that goes a LONG way back, and is not a put down.

Well, yeah, it sort of is, but since he's with pacers.com now it isn't really a bad thing any more.

Montieth is a very good writer. Being a good writer is differet from beiung a good reporter. Montieth is easy to read. He's a better writer than Wells. If I had two books sitting in front of me and I had to read one of them and the topic was something I didn't care about - I would choose Montieth's over Wells.

Beyond that I never felt he was the bunny that some of you did.

I also don't think Pacers.com is as one sided as some of you do. I mean granted I do not expect a writer for pacers.com to come out with an article suggesting Walsh should be fired tomorrow. But for game coverage I do no see any bias - if Hill plays bad Pacers.com will suggest so. I don't think writers for pacers.com are as handcuffed as most of you do. it is just like Mark Boyle when he's doing play-by-play - he's paid by the pacers, but he can be honest.

yeah it's been weird hearing Conrad talk about the Colts so much. Actually I think when Conrad covered the pacers for the Indianapolis News, he was and has been the best beat writer they have had. I still think so.

I wonder if these other local sites are trying to step up their coverage due to Indystar.com going to a pay site. $12 per month.

I believe he is also in the position of "Colts Insider" for WIBC.

This has to be a joke, right? Indystar.com is one of the most frustrating newspaper sites. It got really bad when Gannett took over. We get better local coverage from national news outlets.

Of course my focus is on the sports section... so I guess the rest of it might be better.

Does this mean the annoying "Pacers Crate" is finally gone? Never was a fan of that or Conrad for that matter. Decent writer, but should leave radio and TV alone in my opinion.

I always enjoyed Pacers Crate. I hope it stays around and am now curious about it.
