Pacers should have put a bid in while trying to dump Hans for nothing like DC. Oh well.

    *sigh*
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

Was there ever a reported figure for the winning bid on Scola?

    Saw this on Hoopshype:

Mary Schmitt Boyer/Tom Reed: NBA source says Suns winning bid for Scola was $13 million for three years. Minimum was $10 million for three yrs. Yes, #Cavs did make a bid

    Thanks.

Needed to gauge my level of outrage at Pacers management (greent font).

In all seriousness, while $4.3 million/year is a good price for Scola, that would've put us right up against the luxury tax.

My guess as for why the Pacers didn't bid on Scola is that they're trying to get faster and more athletic at the back-up PF spot to compliment David West. After seeing the way Miami and OKC slid players back and forth over that 3-4-5, I'm guessing a lot of teams are going to be doing the same thing. I don't see Brand or Scola fitting into the team it looks like the Pacers are trying to build.

That's an interesting thought. So do you think we'll be seeing Danny (or possibly Gerald Green) as the backup 4? That seems to be the easy way to get faster and more athletic given our roster options.

I think we can either go big or go small at the 4. Playing Mahinmi or Plumlee at PF should give us an imposing twin tower look, but I'd worry about the skill level. Or we can go small with Granger at PF, in fact I think Hibbert-Granger-George-Hill-Agustin would be a pretty good lineup, if a bit undersized. Or of course we can go with the default option from last year (i.e. Hans), but I'm wondering whether Hans is still in the future plans.

And who said Hans couldn't hurt the team. Being able to move him for DJ would have been great. Scola for Hans trade out, that's major win.

So we're paying Mahinmi the amount we could have gotten Scola for? Athleticism and luxury tax be damned, Scola makes us team better and IMO is a better power forward than David West. He makes the players around him better and does everything you'd want out of a power forward except block shots. Makes no sense for us to not have put in an offer.
