Default Scola gets the amnesty clause!!!!

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Houston has decided to use the amnesty provision on Luis Scola and will likely file with NBA on Friday, league sources tell Y! Sports.

We have to convince Hill and Hibbert and hold off of signing that contract for 2 days go all in on Scola and this offseason is really really good. This would be a huge add and I cant think of a better player on the market for our bench scoring issue and smash mouth ball. I cant believe they really amnestied him but they did take advantage KP!!!.

The offseason would be pure win if we get Scola too.

I don't see this happening. Would we really be able to pay Scola enough? And I don't think he'd want to come off the bench either. I'm not gonna even entertain this as a possibility.

Unfortunately I doubt that's happening since they've formally announced the free agent signings for friday.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

would he be cool coming off the bench?

Also when bidding on amnesty players, they have no say to where they land, right? Whoever has highest bid gets them...

It'd be a 3 year contract. I don't think we bid on either of them.

He has no say highest bid wins.

insurance in case West goes down or walks next year. Plus 48mins of Dwest and Scola would be a bad *** PF combo. Im sure you can find time for a guy like Scola you cant have too much talent. Post game is where we have to take advantage and 48 minutes of starters talent would really help in the playoffs.

Im sure Hibbert and Hill would hold off if it meant getting to play with Scola they would love playing with him.

David West does expire next year. I'd hate to lose West, especially since he was beyond awesome at the end of last season but Scola is really good himself.

I would love to get either Scola or Brand. And that would put us at 15, wouldn't it?

The Mavericks will be aggressive bidders for Scola on the amnesty wire, league sources said. Dallas is serious about Elton Brand too.

What teams are currently under the cap? Phoenix, New Orleans, Dallas... anyone else? Will Dallas now prioritize Scola over Brand?

WOW....im shocked by this. Scola is playing so well for them.

This is something the Pacers should definitely look into. West only has one more year on his contract so we'll need a long term PF regardless.
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

We made our beds when we jumped all over a bad trade on day 1 of the offseason. Scola is irrelevant to the Pacers now.

Wasn't it reported earlier that Dallas was only $5M under the cap? If so, I don't believe that's enough for them to get "serious" about both Scola and Brand. One or the other, sure.

The Pacers web page say they haven't actually said whose signing they're announcing:

While it is not known exactly what signings will be announced, it has been reported by Mike Wells of The Indianapolis Star that the Pacers will announce the re-signing of Roy Hibbert and George Hill.

Doesn't look like it's going to happen. Not unless they cancel tomorrow's press conference. Tomorrow at 4PM is when they're supposed to officially announce Roy and Hill are back (and perhaps talk about Green and Augustin too). It'll take at least 2 days to resolve Scola.

Really? Wow, we should jump ALL OVER THAT. Brand or Scola as a backup PF would be cement our offseason.

This move also makes it a strong possibility Dwight Howard will be a Rocket in the not-too-distant future. There's no way Houston pulls this move unless they're confident it will land them Dwight.

we should have almost enoght room to cover his whole contract who wins if all teams bid the highest possible?

I dont see Dallas doing this I bet they wait for free agency next year. I cant see them saving letting Chandler go ect. Then waste that room on Scola their goal is CP3 or Dwight next year.

Probably don't have the cap space right now unless we renounce Barbosa.

Dump Hansbrough for free somewhere, I could see it. Otherwise I don't see it happening.

so because we traded for a back up center, Scola, a PF, is irrelevant to the Pacers? Nope.
