I am fine with this 9 man rotation based on a 34 minute base:

Hill - 26 min at PG, 8 at SG
Augustin - 22 mins at PG
George - 24 minutes at SG, 10 minutes at SF
Granger - 34 minutes at SF
Green - 16 min at SG, 4 min at SF
    West- 34 min at PF
    Hibbert- 34 min at C
    Hans- 14 min at PF
    Mahinmi- 14 min at C

One can argue dumping Hans altogether, bumping Granger to PF for 14 min, and using George more at SF while playing Lance 14 min at SG

I am not seeing others (Plumlee) getting PT as a rookie
I think when the situation warrants it, you can bring Green in for West and slide Granger to the 4. The main point being, I think the roster is much more flexible now as the Pacers can matchup with anyone.
Find me on the internets @mattiecolin

    Read it and weep:

When George Hill is above 15% usage we won 73.5% of games. Below 15% usage we won 61.9%

Just shows me how awful the George Hill signing was/will be. 5 years of a back-up quality combo guard when there's at least 10 guys you could get for much cheaper is silly. The Pacers just don't want people to see a chance that they would have traded a mid first for a 1 year rental.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

He starts over Hill if not before the season starts by the midway point.

    You'll see.
I think there's a real possibility that DJ impresses enough to move Granger for a young power forward of the future and slide Hill to the 2 and Paul to the 3. Definitely a lot of options for this roster!!

Would have liked more years on the deal but I understand why he probably didn't want more than one year. He wants to prove how good he is and then cash in next season.

True. So I guess we should get a banner year from him. That's at least good news.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

It's ridiculous in these Collison vs. Augustin stats comparisons to assume that Augustin would perform similarly on one of the worst teams as he would on one of the best teams.

    Biyombo
    White
    Brown
    Henderson
    Augustin

    versus

    Hibbert
    West
    Granger
    P. George
    Augustin

That's not even close just looking at the starters, and Indiana also has terrific depth well into the bench. He will have plenty of passing targets. Augustin doesn't need to score much. He would be fine spending most of his time setting up others. I would have loved to have Augustin against Miami; we could have used someone who could get the ball inside to Hibbert and West more effectively, especially considering Bosh was out. We also don't have many who can create their own shot, so having a point guard who can set our players up to score is important.

Augustin actually isn't even the type of point guard I tend to like, as I'm not crazy about his defense, but I can still see how valuable he could be as a distributor on this team. But against opponents who could exploit Augustin's weaknesses, we have unique options at point guard with very different skill sets (G. Hill and Lance). I love the versatility of this roster, and I love that we have so many serious athletes now. You never know what could happen when the ball is lobbed into the air, as a third of this roster could turn that into a highlight.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but

There is an important thing called Team Chemistry. We have 5 new players now

Will chemistry be as strong as last year ?
The starters are still intact. Team Chemistry starts with them and trickles down to the reserves. I like all the players we picked up. None are going to hurt the locker room or chemistry. I think this squad will be just as good together.

How is he at feeding the post? To me, this is the most important question because we otherwise have no one who can get the ball to Roy.

I'll save everyone the questions: he's a smaller George hill with a better handle. Fearless shooter, not really a pure point.

I can see him thriving in Indianas offense, but he isn't going to get the ball inside any better.

It is hard to say the starters are intact when Hill only started the last quarter of the season. It is also certainly possible that Augustine is better than Hill as a PG. In fact I would think it is more likely than not that he is a better PG. We certainly haven't blown up the starting unit, but I wouldn't call this an intact situation.

it doesnt matter that hill only started the last quarter, he was with the team the whole (albeit shortened) season. don't worry, team chemistry will be fine.

    Three goals this offseason:

    - Keep starting lineup intact
    - Improve bench
    - Keep financial flexibility for West re-signing and George extension as well as further moves

    Any questions?

    And I don't think we're done, either.

I would have added that a goal should have been a new starting point guard, but that would have been a solid plan B in my mind. They did get a little better.

We hit our stride as a starting unit when Hill became the starter. Even when he was the 6th man, he was finishing most close games. I doubt it happens but if somehow DJ replaces Hill as the starter, Hill has shown the versatility to me effective in either role. Our bench may have new players, but the pieces fit a hell of a lot better than they did last yr. We have an entire training camp to work on chemistry.

I think we did improve a bit on paper. The interesting part now is seeing if we improve any further due to the chemistry of the starting 5 (in general and because Hill will start all year) and if we improve due to Hill and/or George and/or Hibbert possibly improving on an individual basis.

and we actually have a full offseason under Vogel to enhance our team both offensively and defensively. just a week ago i was cringing at the fact we could lose Hibbert and our team would be set back a couple of years, but now Im estactic about having hill and hibebrt and about our 3 new acquisitions.. I also think David West will be better than he was last year as the knee is finally healed. He looked better in the playoffs than he did the season imo and i think he will perform this next season like he played the playoffs

Not just the playoffs, he was amazing in April too, he should play at that level, which was around his typical NO level, all year long, which will be a huge boost most of the season.

Collison statistically superior to Augustin by virtually every metric but one -- pure point guard rating. And DJ can't guard anyone.
