We still need more pieces, who can those pieces be?

OK so after all the trades the Pacers made yesterday it looks like we still need a backup point guard, a big SF defender to guard Lebron, a shot creator and a PF/C that can play D, list a name of player that we can get? and is there another position you think we need to improve?

I know you agree with me here. I think Jose Calderon is a guy who is realistic that would help us out quite a bit. I like him better than Watson or Augustin.

I know you agree with me here. I think Jose Calderon is a guy who is realistic that would help us out quite a bit. I like him better than Watson or Augustin.

Me too but I don't know if the Pacers are willing to take into his 8mil salary.

Well the first thing we need to do is be sure we sign Green, and then we either need to complete this Augustin deal or try to make something similar happen, we need a backup PG.

It's even worse than that. Calderon makes 10.56 million this year. The Pacers would likely have to send Hansbrough to even have enough cap room to absorb Calderon's contract (assuming they sign Green), and that move would be the end of their cap room.

If we don't get Augustin I think we should go after Watson, we also need a defender that can help against Bosh, Griffin and those type of guys, Jared Jeffries could be cheap, bring Barbosa back as our shot creator(another cheap option) and we also need a guy that can help against Lebron.

Yay, Vnzla - I agree! ... although I'd put more of a premium on a back-up big who can score:

Projecting that Dallas will bid high for Brand, Option 1 is to land Scola if indeed he is amnestied within the next few days. In either case, we'll need to be frugal in signing a back-up PG. (It'd be more fun to see Lance win that role anyway.) Clearly the most cost-effective option, even beyond next season.

To carry the baton for PacerGod2's idea, Option 2 is to trade Hans (if he's not traded for Augustin) & next year's pic to Utah for Paul Milsap, who has just one year left on his contract ($8.6M on Shamsports, $7.2M on Hoopshype) and clearly doesn't have a future there. No one can truly guard LeBron, but I'd like to have Milsap's muscle on him for short periods of time.

Option 3 ... suggestions?

Yep, at this moment, back up PG is the #1 priority after losing DC.

Isn't Green big enough and athletic enough to guard Lebron about as well as Danny did? I would hope that Danny, Gerald, Paul, and George Hill are collectively the defenders of Lebron and Wade, as it stands now.

I suspect that if we strike out on Augustin, our final PG will be a low-end cheap option such as John Lucas III or his equivalent.

My first thought on Green was he was a small forward who could play some 2, so I agree.
