Default Is Mayo or Lee still an option after Green?

Are OJ and Courtney still options? After signing Green, I'm not confident in our bench. It seems Lance has been promoted.

You have to sign at least another rotation guard, preferrably a Point Guard, if DJ Augustin does come here. Right now you have Lance as the back up 1/2, Orlando Johnson back up 2, Gerald Green back up 2/3. That's not enough proven experience to get it done for sure. Good thing is there are more guards available than viable spots for them.

I don't know about Mayo or Lee, but I think we need another wing. If we don't add one then our rotation would be something like Granger (32-34), George (32-34), Green (28-32). I'm not sure Green does enough things to get so many minutes. Is he a good defender? Is he a good rebounder?

Perhaps for the MLE if no team decides to pick them up.

I sure hope so, but I doubt it. My guess is we'll get somebody completely random if we do.

Probably not. We have Lance Stephenson as backup SG

Mayo wants to play PG. Thus he could be an option as a guy who could fit in our rotation. As for the chances of us getting him, that is another story. Once NO matches EJ, Pheonix is suppose to make a big run at OJ. If we could get him I could see him fitting, but we will probably have to pay 8+ mil per year to get him. That probably won't happen.

He has the size, length, and athleticism to play above average defense. He isn't a shut-down defender by any means, but he has enough defense to keep him on the floor (especially because he is a pretty good offensive player)

After hearing about his man-crush with Doc Rivers, I didn't think that the Pacers would pursue Courtney Lee. Like a lot of people, I REALLY wanted Mayo, mainly due to his ability to create his own shot, his defense, and the fact that he's still young enough to have some potential. But if his asking price is so high, I can understand why the team decided to move in a different direction. If we can somehow get another knock down shooter from the perimeter, I wouldn't be opposed to allowing Lance start the season as the backup PG--AS LONG AS we brought in a veteran 3rd stringer just in case.

On another note, if we're able to land Augustin, or another high quality backup PG, then we can put Lance at the backup 2. Either way, I'm pretty sure that Mayo and Lee are both out of the question at this point.

Have about 10mil left. So, yea, It's possible. If Hans is traded for a 5 mil contract. Pacers will have about 8 mil left before signing Hibbert and Hill. If Pacers land Brand, then I'd say a SG at the mle is all that's left.

I might be in the minority here but I rather bring Barbosa back than overpaying for either one of this guys.

If we get OJ it seems like there would be a log jam at the PG position, especially if were getting Augustin. Augustin, Hill, Mayo, Lance. If DJ comes here, then I think Lee is a better fit. But I think OJ is the better player.

I don't know, but I think we are trying to save enough cap to put a good bid on the amnesty contract of brand or Scola

OJ is NOT a PG in any way.

Agreed Wells just said on 1070 they want way to much money and the Pacers aren't interested because of that. Really getting GG and a pg at a fraction of the price is a better combo than just Lee or Mayo. I think anyone who pays Mayo or Lee 8+ M will regret by mid season next year.

I wouldnt mind adding a shooter like Jodie Meeks or Delfino or Barbosa if they are dirt cheap but adding Mayo and Lee isnt worth it they really aren't that good.

Acquiring Green yesterday was pretty much the signal from the front office that they're not going after Mayo, Lee or anyone else who will make more than $5M per year.

Green has played that many minutes before. He will be fine. And plays two positions. I see a smaller rotation if the team adds no one else. Although they are going to have to add a PG from somewhere. Looks like the Augustin thing is on the rocks.

BTW Green is not signed yet. Anything could happen.

I completely agree... I had originally hoped that we would package DC and Hans, but after yesterdays moves/nonmoves, it seems as though there is interest between us and bobcats to complete the trade... However, if we do complete it, who backs up dwest?

I believe we are waiting for a winning bid on Brand or possibly Scola to pull the trigger on the DJ Augustin deal...

    Hill/ Augustin/Lance
    PG/ Lance/ Orlando
    DG/ Green
    Dwest/ Brand/Plum
    Roy/ Mahinmi/ Mavunga?

    DONE?

Like I said on the other thread I still think we need somebody to defend against Lebron and Bosh, at this moment we don't have backup players that can help with this.

And I love that approach. Gerald Green will be marginally worse than either of those guys for half the cost. Beautiful. That is why I like the Mahinmi deal so much. I didn't love it at first glance, but hearing what we signed him to made me really like the move. Great fiscally conservative moves that get us a lot of talent for our expenditures. It is why anybody who pays OJ Mayo $8+M a year will regret it.

Me too but is he even affordable?

I think we need another scorer but according to the one thread, we're officially out of cap space.

Too bad because there are a number of scorers left on the market...

Leandro Barbosa, OJ Mayo, Courtney Lee, Delonte West, Jodie Meeks, Rudy Fernandez, Randy Foye, Shannon Brown, Marco Belinelli, Michael Redd

I guess we can rule out Mayo, Lee and West. I don't know how much others will ask but I assume Meeks and Redd would be the cheapest. I would be okay with either. I think we need another scorer off the bench. If Baborsa, Fernandez or Foye are possible, I'd go for them.

Gerald Green is the only guy we have on the bench that can shoot at the moment. Sadly, Hansbrough is probably the second best shooter off the bench. Erm... lol
