Also, isn't Green the guy who blew out the candle on a cupcake he put on the back of the rim? Someone want to embed that YouTube clip?

I keep reading that his handles aren't that great, but they look just fine in those clips.
    They look like Danny's.

Green's handles look better than Danny's just from that one clip, but I'd say for the most part Green is a pretty average ball handler.

Which should be all that is needed. I don't think they're signing him in hopes that he is going to be handling the ball all that much. He's an athletic catch and shoot guy who can handle the ball well enough when needed.

Wells said the deal is basically done on 1070. He will be in a Barbosa role first wing off the bench said getting a backup pg will be the final piece. Said Augustin is plan A and play B is a cheap guy who the market dried up for. Not naming names guessing a CJ Watson type.

I remember watching the dleague all star game last year and the showcase he tore it up. Probably what got him his 10 day deal.

Did Green also do a barefoot dunk that got a bad score for some reason? I remember wondering why the judges and announcers were so dismissive of it.

Interesting. Would seem that we still have playing time for another wing, unless we're expecting Green and Stephenson to play heavy minutes. Or maybe Hill shifts to the 2 for a big chunk of time, allowing Augustin to get plenty of play.

Also, that should leave us with a healthy chunk of unused cap space. Are we planning to carry the cap space into the season for a possible Barbosa-type deal at the deadline?

I don't think you'll find any Nets fan who will have anything bad to say about him. Sad to see him leave, as it seemed like he really enjoyed being a apart of our organization and relished the chance to prove himself as a player and a person.

Nothing bad to say about Gerald. I wish we were able to retain him and offer something competitive.

    Good luck in Indy.

Just for a stroll down memory lane....here is the PD 2005 Draft Day Thread:

    http://www.pacersdigest.com/showthre...-Thread/page13

Everyone was either in the "Draft Granger, he's the more experienced College Player" or "Draft Green, he has a lot of potential" bandwagon the second that Toronto drafted Joey Graham and left both Granger and Green to the Pacers to pick at #17.

Both took different routes to don a Pacer uniform........one took the direct route and the other via the NBA to Russia to China to the NBADL and then back to NBA.

It's funny how things end up like this.

I like this signing. He's a very nice backup wing.

Also, it seems like one of the prime directives for this this offseason is to get the average vertical leap to 40 inches. Green, Plumlee, and Johnson all have a vertical leap at around that mark. I haven't been able to track down Mahinmi's vertical leap yet.

They were dismissive because he'd already done a between-the-legs dunk, and it was basically "the same dunk", except without shoes. Apparently, the judges don't understand the height boost that the average NBA shoe permits, and the fact that dunking barefoot sucks a ton of balls. Better on hardwood than concrete, and better in socks than without, but it's still impressive.

It's baseball's approach to building a bullpen, really. Bring in the young guys and old veterans in spring training. Then keep a couple through May. Then see what you have. If it's not enough, make a change.

I would be pretty excited if George Hill learned how to pass (or if our backup PG was a distributor) and we got some open court opportunities with Green and George on the wings with Plumlee as the trailer.

It really wasn't even a good lob, that's what made the dunk look so great.

I was unsure of what that was, appears a bunch of offensive players fastly were breaking towards one end for an easy basket.... next you'll tell me moisture falls from the sky in central indiana...

Nets fans loved him. Not going to lie, as a Green fan I was a bit disappointed that Brooklyn couldn't retain him, it was nice to see him being appreciated by a fan base. Hopefully Pacers fans appreciate him as well, looking forward to following the Pacers these next few seasons.

A Gerald Green fan who now finds himself rooting for the Suns.

it was pretty crazy one time about a month ago in central indiana the clouds got all dark and ominous then the wind picked up and then these dark splotches started showing up on the sidewalks, I'm still not quite sure what happened.

Despite his vision in the half court, Hill is a very good passer in the open court. We saw glimpses of it last season and hopefully we'll see more this season.

Gerald Green is so much stronger now than he was when he first entered the league. I think that's the biggest difference in his game.

I just had a daydream/vision/prophecy of a David West one-handed cross-court fastbreak bullet pass that Gerald Green turns into an alley-oop on the other end.

    1. That's some Vince Carter **** right there! I've seen this clip, this .gif, this dunk so many times, but failed to realize that this is something that Vince Carter did in his prime (love it).
    2. Humphries was really disappointed to learn that he wasn't getting that alley-oop.
    3. Of the Rockets who even reacted on the break, Scola and that other guy just raised their hands to keep from getting hit by Green's flying body.

Well, it was MarShon Brooks who threw the pass. It's not about who CAN throw that kind of lob (Lance can, Paul can, I'm sure Hill can, Dahntay would have), but rather about who WILL throw the pass. DC always took fast breaks alone, Granger rarely looks to pass. Vogel needs to send these guys into practice knowing that alley-oops are more than just an entertaining factor of the game; they're a way to catch defenders off guard when they're solely paying attention to the player with the ball. In that clip, Lee and Scola were focused on Brooks, while Green came "out of nowhere" before they could react to the pass. Remember Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell? Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the movie, but nobody "in that time" expected the alley-oop to happen, and to this day, some still don't when they're rushing up the court on a break.
