I'll be honest, usually I roll my eyes when people look at the game this way, but I'm really excited for some Green dunks. I really do think between him and PG it'll make the Pacers "sexier." That's a big deal for the teenagers and whatnot, and that's a demographic our fanbase needs to get. Most of their formative years were full of the Pacer sucking.

If I was 12 years old watching some of those JOB teams I don't know that I'd be a fan today.

We still need a point guard to make them look "sexi" though.

So is this final? I don't see anything on ESPN, and I don't feel like reading 6 pages of a thread.

I am EXTREMELY happy with this pick up. Dude is a baller. Had a great year last year and seems to have really matured and turned into a great young player with potential to be even better.

DJ Augustin coming off the bench with these guys will do it (pending his trade). Augustin is accustomed to being a distributor, and all Vogel has to do is tell him that it's his job. He can score when necessary, but I think he'll grow into passing. Even without him, I think Lance will begin to take advantage of his court vision, and hopefully Vogel will start to teach his guys to pass and throw alley-oops on fast breaks, which can easily catch running defenders off-guard.

I am so ****ing excited. I can't wait to hear the official announcement, and see what number he'll be wearing. 14 or 5? Or something new?? Ahhh, I'm giddy like a schoolgirl.

PS: If anyone can photoshop a Pacers jersey onto Green, I'd LOVE to see it. I don't currently have any of my Adobe Suite loaded because I lost my serial number. Also, I'm not that good.

He was actually really, really good in his stint with the Nets last year, one of the highest PER in the league for fans of that stat, 13 ppg in 25 minutes on his percentage is pretty impressive.

Just for a stroll down memory lane....here is the PD 2005 Draft Day Thread:

    http://www.pacersdigest.com/showthre...-Thread/page13

Everyone was either in the "Draft Granger, he's the more experienced College Player" or "Draft Green, he has a lot of potential" bandwagon the second that Toronto drafted Joey Graham and left both Granger and Green to the Pacers to pick at #17.

Both took different routes to don a Pacer uniform........one took the direct route and the other via the NBA to Russia to China to the NBADL and then back to NBA.

It's funny how things end up like this.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I really like the idea of George and Green on the floor at the same time. Helps us a lot if teams go small, Danny can slide to the 4 and we still have size at 2 and 3.

I like the move. Let's hope that he is a worthy replacement to Dahntay who was great last season for us.

    Welcome to Pacers nation, Gerald

How is Green's defense? Can he help take some of the load off PG with guys like D. Wade or Rose.

He's a pretty good on ball defender on the perimeter at this stage of his career. He does have a tendency to fall for pump fakes/commit some bad fouls though, but I think he's getting better in that regard. And while the sample size isn't huge with him defending PGs, the best defense I've seen him play was on Kyrie Irving. Shut him down after he'd been lighting up the Nets all game.

A Gerald Green fan who now finds himself rooting for the Suns.

According to 82games.com... pretty good. If he was playing SF like they say, he held his opponent to a PER of 10. I'm not sure how he'd do against guards though. I doubt he could handle the 2 guys you listed.

I know it's off topic, but i was comparing Danny and Gerald's stats and came across Danny's playoff stats... 73 3's and 28 free throws in 11 games? not kew Danny

Is this officially done? Mike Wells has only said that the Pacers "are expected to offer him" the 3 year deal.

It's a cheap contract for a decent enough player. Otherwise known as, exactly what we said about the Dahntay Jones deal, which obviously didn't really work out.

For it to be official, does Brooklyn have three days to match? They won't, since they would need to make trades to get the money, but do they have 3-day matching rights? Not sure how it works since he came to them on 10 day contracts that were then extended. It doesn't really make sense that he would be restricted, so I'd think there is no wait needed.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

No, he's unrestricted. They can't match.

All that article did was quote the Peter Vecsecy tweet, and then use Mike Well's tweet of contract details.

    It didn't report anything.

I keep reading that his handles aren't that great, but they look just fine in those clips.

I love the signing. Just waiting for it to be official so I can really get excited about it.

Wells's blog this morning indicates he's probably going to sign with us 'any day now'. Seems pretty likely.
