How does everyone feel about DJ Augustin at starting PG next year ?

The guy that ran the show for the worst team in NBA history.

This is Charlotte. Thinking is thrown out the window.
On the contrary, since Cho became GM last summer he has pretty much followed through on the exact plan he laid out upon his hiring. He blew up the roster, started acquiring draft picks, and tanked the strike shortened season to get a high draft pick (which everyone knew was coming before the season started.)
<---- Hansbrough smiling in the training room after Gerald Henderson's cheap shot. UNC won the game, Tyler was happy so he took this picture. Roy Williams keeps it on his desk.

The sign and trade deal with DJ Augustin is around 2 years/7.5 million, according to a Bobcats poster who is in with DJ's family and broke the news a few days ago

this would be a very good deal for DJ
That's not bad. I can live with that.

I've seen him play a lot and I think his future is as a back-up PG in this league. I don't think he's a starting PG for a playoff team.

But for the record, you can't lay last season at the feet of DJ Augustin. Tanking the strike shortened season to get a good draft pick was part of Rich Cho's plan. DJ was not put in a position to succeed based on the moves the Bobcats made. They blew up the roster so they could start over.

Yeah, that'd be a pretty good deal, as much as I don't like it. Hope that's it, and hope we're not giving up a pick (unless Plumlee counts).

But man, DJ is really bad defensively and shoots a very low percentage.

I'm stunned. This is an awesome deal. Love me some DJ.

Man the FO had this all lined up and air tight from the press. Wells reported that they were going to meet with Mahinmi and Green, but nada on DJ.

2/7.5 hmmm only tyler really fits in that category for salaries matching...I think cho would prefer TPE then. What I wonder is what asset we have to give up if it is for a TPE....I hope it isn't a first.

rick_bonnell I hear an Augustin-to-Indiana sign-and-trade is unlikely. More to come.

this guy is the bobcats beat writer

I have attended more Bobcats games that I would like to admit. I've seen DJ play a lot since he's been in the NBA.

He is a dangerous 3pt shooter and has proven capable of knocking down clutch outside shots. He doesn't have good shot selection, and that is reflected in his overall FG%. He is a major liability on defense. He has a history of pouting if he isn't a starter.
The thing I remember most about Augustine is that he is short. Really really short. Nice quicks though. A change of environment might do him good, especially if the INDY WATER helps him grow 3 inches.

I don't see this guy being a guy that can get the Pacers to the ECF finals. Hope I'm either wrong about him or the FO sees him as a really good 3rd PG.

"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

    Augustin for DC
    Gerald Green for Dahntay
    Plumlee for Amundson
    Mahinmi for Hans

Seems like a pretty solid set of upgrades. Well, the last one's a bit dicey, but with the way Hans played last season, it's not like the bar is set high.
